How do you get buds to look compressed

If you want density the best thing you can do is let them finish flowering. They don't put on the real packed out density until the last week of flower. Try running them another 2 weeks past and you think they're ready.

Ok I try that. I harvest 1/2 plant but lot left.
Also I see new growth that was hidden under canopy

Lower temperatures and light intensity in the last 2 weeks helps. Also start with indica dominant strains.

They look finished to me. Finished or not the calyxes look swollen so I would not expect them to get any denser than they already are. They already went through the swelling.
Personally, when it comes to smoking, I prefer fox tailed sativa leaning buds over super dense indica leaning buds. Dense buds rule if bag appeal is most important to you. If that's the case, you'll need to go with a different strain.
