I am feeling really generous today so i'll let you in a lil secret. get some oxyclean.......add about 2 tablespoons to a quart of hotter than piss but not boiling water in a glass jar.(i prefer glass so i can watch it clean) add the oxyclean to the water.....agitate or mix well till water is milk white...add the glass. watch and see oxygen kick the ever living fuck outa pipe resin. your welcome.

I remove most of the build up with paperclip etc depending on piece.. just something relatively flimsy to not scratch or accidently crack the piece. Running hot water through sually removes most.

I then soak in 99% isopropanol and its good to go.

Sometimes for giggles i collect most of the resin in iso and gather in a pyrex and Light it on fire

Salt and alcohol or salt and Goof Off. Hot water and pipe cleaners also help.
EDIT: Always soak/rinse vigorously in hot soapy water after using a solvent.

I rinse under running hot water once or twice a week, depends on how much I'm smoking at the time..takes out 90%. If I really want to clean it I'll rinse it with some Everclear( grain alcohol) and coarse salt after the water. I won't use Iso, it leaves petroleum residues if not cleaned properly.

Name the residue?
Describe in detail?
I think we had this conversation already...lol. I worked in a clean room environment where we couldn't use ISO to clean because it left a residue we could measure ( micron measurements). The granite that did get cleaned with ISO on the shop floor would get a gummy buildup after using just ISO repeatedly if it wasn't regularly cleaned with the special granite cleaners we had. Probably inconsequential, but It's something i know about and can eliminate for a negligible cost increase using Ethyl alcohol. Try pouring a little ISO on a clean clear piece of glass and let it evaporate, now do this repeatedly 5-10 times and see whats left over..

No you never responded.
I said one of its main uses was cleaning sensitive electrical connections and pharmaceuticals.culd not leave a residue. And the production of iso doesnt create anything else. Its a pure hydration of propene really
Ive evapped 5 gallons and found nothing

What grade ISO? IDK what to say I've seen it, the engineers did the whole evap. some on a glass plate to show us the "residue"( maybe that's not the right term?), so we would stop using it...many of us thought the same thing..it doesn't leave anything behind. If you ran a finger through what was left behind it it felt slightly oily. We bought it in 5 gal drums...and I'd bet they were sourcing it from the cheapest place they could find so who knows the quality of what we were getting..seeing how it was being used as a general cleaning agent..I can almost guarantee they didn't care about the quality.

I use iso on all kind of stuff and have even made explosives with it then looked at them under a microscope. It sounds like your lab was buying some crappy ISO. I'm talking the normal store bought stuff. We were practicing making the explosives similar to the way it is made in a clandestine lab but then got to see them under the microscope while we desensitized it. NEVER pour rapidly evaporating fluids on an unknown white, crystalline powder. It is for your own protection!

There is a product called SmokeSoap we carry that is awesome, you heat it up in the microwave and then shake around in pipe. It gets everything super clean, we also carry a product called RezBlock that does a great job of keeping your pipe clean while you use it. It is a cranberry extract that you add to the water, it great a layer above the water that is dense enough to keep the resin from floats or sticking to the walls of your piece. Here are some links to both of these items:
