Sativa has long thin leaves, and are usually taller plants, whereas Idica have short thick leaves and are generally shorter plants.

I know the leaves are hard to see, and these pics don't show the growth habit of the plants, but they may help on the leaf aspect of things. Pay close attention to the leaves in the pictures, ignore the rest for now lol:

Sativa:

Indica:

besides the leaf thing, Indicas form a large main cola at the top.
Sativas form many smaller, fluffier, colas with less trichomes on a lot of branches. They tend to take a month longer to mature. They stretch more in the flowering stage.

first pic is a sativa second pic is a indica
Those both look like 60/40 Sativa/Indica and 60/40 Indica/Sativa hybrids, neither of them look particularly one way or the other (as in 80-90% Sativa or Indica) ... Mind the Indica I posted earlier is more of a 60/40 Sativa/Indica hybrid, but that's the closest I get to Indicas anyway lol.

As for cola size, Sativa colas often look bigger, but weigh less as they're lighter and fluffier - more expanded you could say. Indica colas are tight and compact - therefore they tend to weigh more and take longer to dry properly (as little air gets to the centre of the cola) however Indica colas may appear larger or smaller than sativa colas, there is no rule as such, depends on strain, growing environment and the growers skill!

Indicas also tend ot have a higher calyx (flower) to leaf ratio when they're flowering, whereas Sativas are much more bushy and covered in leaves.

Hope this helps some!
