How bad is the smell ?

Even with a nice carbon filter and a big centrifugal fan sucking the odor out of a 4x5x8 closet how bad does the skunk smell really get ? Can you smell it outside the room ?

I live in a non-smoking house and smoke weed outside, so theres will be no masking of any smells or excuses to make up other than I just got sprayed by a skunk but that will only work once.:-P.

well being sprayed by a skunk wont exactly be a very good excuse unless you can show your parents a skunk that sprays weed tea, i have no experience with carbon filters to tell you how bad its going to smell but it will absolutely reek of sticky chronic if you dont do something about it

No parents to worry about, but I rent a basement apartment for the last 3 years, the landlords cool and he's never came in the house once the whole time, so I'm not worried about unexpected visits, he probably wouldn't give a shit anyway but I'd rather keep it to myself period. Plus if any cougars come back over after the bar, friends smell it, or family when they visit that's no good either.

ah i grow in an apartment also, my odor is mainly controlled because my building is old, i dont have any vents and heat comes from a radiator and co2 from my window air units. one thing needs to be made very VERY clear. if your apartment has vents and your flowering room starts to reek your whole building is going to smell like chronic which will bring your neighbors knocking even if your landlord doesnt. be safe and grow smart

Yeah, that would be a bad mistake. The closet has no vents and I'll be making it air tight as possible and with the exaust going outside.

im also in a apartment building, really really old, no vents, just radiators, its in a closet, in a "homebox grow tent" with a exhaust

the other side of the closet is a apartment, think they will be able to smell it threw the wall?

Grow a "low odor strain" lots of good ones out there. Get some of those $1 cone air freshners from wally world, the twist up ones ya know. You can even sit one inside you vent. People might say what the hell is that smell but it won't smell like the ganga and after 10secs or so our minds become aclimated to most smells. I'm looking at the uv-c air cleaners at Lowe's in addition to all the other stuff, can't be too careful.

Yeah, i was thinking a couple clad plug in's around the room and a automatic spray dispenser in the room that you can get at wally, and the hanging type as well as those odor control pucks at hydro shops that you just set on the floor.

This is my first indoor grow so just have no idea what to expect for smell.

I'll have to look into the low odor strains for sure, thanks.

I grow in a multi unit bldg as well but use no filtering equipment. My grow is usually 4 plants max, right now 2 are flowering and you can smell it but, only in the room that the closet is in. I leave a window open most of the time, but Its also on the third floor with no balcony, so noone can stand outside my window and smell anything. I have the glade plug ins , which work, but run out fast and are not cheap.
