To be honest, I don't think so. I've never had that problem. If you look at most street lights that are on big light poles, those are usually HPS. They're like a magnet for flying insects and they don't blow.

They also say not to touch your HID bulbs with your bare hands, but I've seen people do it without any I'll effects.

If it hasn't blown, you're probably good to go.....Maybe less ladybugs next time.

I doubt the light will be harmed by the bugs unless they attack like the Chinese army. :)

Bare hands on bulbs bad. Do you wipe the lens on your camera with your bare finger? I keep a pair of light cotton work gloves with my stash of bulbs and they never touch nothing but spotless glass. Your finger prints will be etched into the glass after it gets used and it's not unknown for cracks to develop in the glass around prints and may be why the glass blows sometimes. I've never had one blow in all these years so maybe the gloves help. For $2 it's cheap insurance. I'm still using a 16 yo 400W EYE Hortilux conversion bulb for MH and have just done 1 grow with another Hortilux conversion bulb. A 1000W HPS that cost me $170 and I'm hoping to get a lot more grows out of that before it's done.

Good luck Highlando!

I've seen these little stands you can put in the drip tray to hold the grow bag up off the surface and let it drain into the tray. Don't want them sitting on their soggy bottoms I guess or those roots won't prune and it might cause root rot too I believe.

If you're any good at DIY things you could jerry-rig something functional I bet.

I don't pray but will send good growing vibes your way. :)

Yes. Exactly. Lady B's are supposedly good for thrips. I would go with Lacewings for most things. oil gnats? Nematodes and supposedly some newer sprays like Big Time Exterminator.
Thanks for the advice never hurd of lacewings b4 i really appreciate it hoping to be able to teach people sumday first grow so i have a while

You might call around you local gardening places and farm supply stores if you have any in the area. The people at Hydro-Gardens are very nice. Their prices on Lace Wings are cheap. The eggs take 4 days to hatch then are larvae while the larvae go to town right away. Good luck.
They are really nice, and they will analyze your bugs if you are local to them (i am luckily)
