Hot Damn, I need some help with this DWC stuff.

Yesterday I watched that video someone posted about how to make a DWC hydro setup. I decided to make my own but I has some questions. In the video he only has two holes in the lid but i was wondering if I could use 2 inch cups like in stinkbud's aeroponic setup.

What's the best size net cup to use for a DWC grow in an 18 gallon container?

If I have to use florescent lights, how many will i need to use? Should I use t8's? How many wattz?

Also, what nutrients are best for DWC growing and how much does that shit cost?

Thanks and sorry if none of this makes sense.

2in is good for avg plants. You can grow trees in 3ins. T5's would be better than t8s. as many as you can get. Check www.htgsupply.com great deals. I use Technaflora and you can get an everything starter kit for around $40. Highly recommend it. And get some Hygrozome or something similar, it will save your ass if you dont have a chiller. Also i would add another one of those pumps with two more stones, those inlaid ones work ok, but the tubes are better. And 4 plants would be max for avg plants (2ft) but 2 is pushing it at full flower with 2month veg.

I have 4 in my 18 gallon Rez and it is too many. If you're doing more holes, you'll just veg them shorter.

Yep, I have 2 in a 30gal and it seems to be a lil too much sometimes. They definitely fight for room in the middle.
Would definitely recommend doing a scrog.

Thank for the replies, guys, I found these empty containers about 4.5" diameter. 6 of these setup like in the picture would work well right? Anyone have any experience with homemade net cups or should I just buy some?

Also, is it worth it for me to buy Clonex or should I just use water for rooting clones?

you don't need it. I guess it speeds it up, but I've cloned plants just by sticking them in dirt and keeping it moist. I think in a bubble cloner, you'd be less likely to "need" it. People say it takes a few days off rooting time though.

Those could work as net pots. As long as you punch a bunch of holes in it.
All around the bottom, and maybe a lil bit on the sides around the bottom.
In my 5gal bubble bucket I used a regular plant pot with 5 holes in the bottom
and it worked. As long as the roots have somewhere to grow out before they
grow all in (root lock).
I didn't have it in the bucket at first, just the pot and the plants growth started
stunting. It was because the roots were trying to grow out of the bottom but
the light was killing them. After I put the pot in the bubble bucket, the roots
started exploding out of the bottom.
Which is why I don't agree with the whole "roots are perfectly fine in the light" theory.
Maybe the roots have a chance if they are submerged and get light, idk.
