homebox XL,cooltube,extractor and carbon filter(problems & ideas)

hello my friends
i bought homeboxXL and Cooltube 490 X125 mm.i use 600 watt HPS and ballast.
offficial site of the homebox says '' min 420m3 extractor must be used with homebox XL.
Up to 250W light (or 400W with cooling system): 225m3 extractor
Up to 400W light (or 600W with cooling system): 345m3 extractor
Up to 600W light: 420m3 extractor

The carbon filter should always have a slightly bigger capacity than the extractor used.

i need min 550 or 600 m3 extractor because The carbon filter should always have a slightly bigger capacity than the extractor used.

but it is the problem that there is no extractor that has 125mm diameter and 600m3 airflow capacity.

i have to match carbon filter with extractor.
if i buy a 125mm extractor,it is not enough for homebox XL.
if i buy bigger extractor than 125 mm,they dont match carbon filter.because there is 125 mm cooltube between carbonfilter and extractor.

airflow:
inside of tent>carbon filter>cooltube(125mm)>extractor(bigger than 125) >outside of tent

diameter of the carbon filter is not important here, because there is no chance to match with extarctor.because extractor and cooltube's diameters are different.
[ for example : if carbon filter's and extractor's dimater were
200mm,the diameter of cooltube is still same,125mm.
in this case,airflow were:
inside of tent>200mm carbon filter>125mm cooltube>200mmm extractor>outside of tent .

it wasnt good. ]

and i have an idea.i will use 2 extractor to prevent that mismatch

airflow 1:
outside of tent>cooltube (125 mm ) >extractor (125mm)>outside of tent

airflow 2 :
inside of tent>carbon filter 200mm > extractor 200mm >outside of tent

i will run both extractor @ half speed to prevent too many noise.that is why i should buy bigger capacity extactors.

even if this idea seems good,it costs too expensive, especially for me(i will import all equipments, because there is ''nothing '' in my country about growing.

is there somebody who could give me any other good ( and cheap ) idea ?

Like you, I wanted to put a cool tube inside of my cab. The more reading and research I did, I found that it is much better if you have 2 seperate fans or a big ass fan to extract odor and heat from the cool tube. I have decided to get a standard reflector and have the scrubber attached to the fan extracting heat and odor from the cab. Or you could do a google search on "Do you have a cool tube/air scrubber combo?" and there's a thread I started a few weeks back that should be very helpful. There's some pics and a lot of discussion about this same thing. I would post the links but I'm on my phone and can't navigate through multiple windows. Lemme know if you find it or not. But before you go buying big ass loud ass fans, check out the thread about the S&P fans called "These fans are the real deal". Just ordered one myself. Supposed to be very quiet.

i dont live in USA.
''These fans are the real deal".
there are not these fans in my country .

dude,i took a look but i dont understand which topic do you mention ?
please give me link.
thanks.

You seem to have misunderstood the website, it says 400w (or 600w with cooling system): 345m3 extractor. You have a 600w light with a cooltube cooling system, so that is the size of fan these guys recommend. Without knowing the volume of the homeboxXL I can't give a better estimate, so work from that.
Then, where it says The carbon filter should always have a slightly bigger capacity than the extractor used, this means that the flow rate of the carbon filter should be slightly more than that of the exhaust fan that is pulling air through it.
I know that fitting a carbon filter causes resistance in the airflow, and so the fan should be uprated to cope, but they seem to have accounted for that (unless the box is HUGE, like over 100m3, which I doubt; my living room is about 50m3, 5x5x2m) so I would say get a carbon filter that is rated around 400m3, based on the info you have given.
Let me know if I'm the one misunderstanding this!

Fuckin' metric system. :wall:

Let's keep this simple... any kind of exhaust fan is going to keep negative pressure therefore ensuring odor-free operation of said tent when connected to a carbon filter. Always match the fan to the filter and hook that up to the cooltube. If the temps stay in check, you have nothing to worry about.

The stats for the actual tent are irrelevant if you are using a vented hood, dig?

7th1der,thanks for link

and Hairy Bob,
yes i had really misundersood !!
you are absolutely right.
this information may save me from spending too much .
well,
345 m3 extractor is enough for me..

homebox XL is
1.2 metre X 1.2 metre X 2 metre

http://homebox.net/dhtml/product_family_homebox_xl.php

however, i read that ,if a carbon filter is used, capacity of the extractor would decrease almost 20% - 30 %.
and in that case;what is the ideal capacity of extractor for homebox XL ? 414 m3 or still 345 m3 ?
( 345 X 20% + 345 = 414)

That space is only about 110 cubic feet, so even with a filter, a 345cfm fan will still exchange the air at least twice a minute.
Like I said before, they seem to have factored a filter into their calculations for fan sizes, 345 will be plenty imo.

dude not 345 cfm !
i will use 345 m3 extractor.
345 m3 extractor = 192 CFM.

is 192 CFM extractor enough for homebox XL with 600w HPS in cooltube ?

Ah right, sorry. I take it you mean m3 per hour? In which case it's actually 203 cfm. I can't think what else m3 could stand for in relation to a fan.
It will still work as the recommendation is to exchange the air once a minute with HID lighting, which that fan will still achieve even after factoring in the filter, it just leaves less room for expansion than I originally thought.
