Im diggin those drying racks Butchyboy :bigjoint:
Thanks Young lady!! They had been collecting dust for years so I figured they would work for this!!

The holy Grail gave me 91 grams dry. Not bad for a plant that suffered early...

I am debating on pulling out the bubble bags today and emptying out the ice maker. I have soooo much material to run it is crazy! I still have a few ounces of material from last summer plus the material from this last week. I think I need to invest in a mini washing machine!! :dunce: Busy busy busy

Today's show!!

I turned off the lights so I could swiffer the cool tubes and get some pictures. I really do not think my soil needs any kind of tea or added nutes what so evarrrr!!! :dunce:

Every plant I have fed yellows a day or so after. The ones I give water only stay green the longest!

After reading Teaming with Microbes ( almost done) I believe the added nutes are causing issues in the soil. From my reading, live soil has everything a plant needs period!!! Just add water!!!
When we add nutes to the soil, the bugs in the soil stop doing what they are there for and the plant suffers resulting in the plant needing human help! Most times human help is overboard and the plant suffers even more. The soil never recovers in the short amount of time it takes to grow one of these plants.
I will be trying a No till bucket. From my reading I have learned that disturbing the soil kills the "live" things in the soil.

If you have not read Teaming with Microbes I will say this... Buy it, read it, you won't be sorry you did!!

This Holy Grail had 1 tsp fish emulsion added to a half gallon of water and is now fading at day 18. I believe the soil retains too much moisture also.

20150223_085804.jpg

This unknown strain #2 got 1/2 tsp fish emulsion in 1/2 gallon of water and has started to fade already. today is day .5 of flower. It also holds too much moisture.

20150223_085810.jpg

This XJ got 3/4 tsp fish emulsion in 4 cups of water and as you can see, it is fading fast at day 35

20150223_085815.jpg

This XJ has had clear water only. today is day 32

20150223_085848.jpg

This Unknown strain #1 has had clear water only and is at day 57 of veg. it has been in the flower room for 5 days and is crowning.

20150223_085857.jpg

This Blue Magoo has had a top dressing on 1/26 of mushroom compost, enriched potting soil and a small amount of chicken manure. That burnt the tips right away but hasn't caused any other issue. It has had clear water only. Today is day 35.

The wife and daughter say the fridge smells like weed.... In fact the kitchen kinda smells also.

That means it's Hash time!!

I figured I would spend the day and get rid of the bags of trim that are in the freezer. I have a small amount of Holy Grail and XJ (found some pollen sacks on it) along with a decent amount of Platinum Bubba and a large bag of the unknown #1.

20150226_093757.jpg

The set up!!

I use 5 gallon bubble bags and a few buckets.

20150226_091407.jpg

I cut the bottom out of three buckets so when inserted into each other they spread the bags at the bottom.

20150226_093024.jpg

The bottom bucket that the 25 bag goes in has four holes drilled in the base. I make sure to keep the bottom of the bag above the bottom of the bucket so the water can get out as freely as possible. It's still a very sloooow process.

20150226_092734.jpg

So I wind up with the tower of hash....

I use a bucket with no holes for the 220 bag. I don't like how they get bunched up when you stack all of them into one bucket. There is no room left for stirring.

20150226_093622.jpg

More to come.....

I toss a bed of ice cubes in the 220 bag then the trim.... This is the bit of Holy Grail...

20150226_094020.jpg

Then more ice cubes....

20150226_094122.jpg

Toss it in the kitchen sink and add enough water to cover the ice then let sit for 15 minutes.... Er uh.. Smoke a bowl :bigjoint:

20150226_094216.jpg

Then grab your wooden spoon....

20150226_094351.jpg

And take this bucket outside where it is not 69 :hump: degrees......

20150226_094704.jpg
20150226_094715.jpg

Nice cat thermometer the previous owners left for us :dunce: It will be replaced this summer. ;)

Now start stirring the pot!! Take your time..... I spend a half an hour stirring, stopping here and there for a break :eyesmoke: but a total of 30 minutes stirring!!! After which is another smoke break so the bucket can settle again.
Also I added the bag of XJ to this run. there wasn't much Holy Grail and it seemed like a waste of effort.

20150226_100612.jpg

More to come..... I am waiting for it to settle then on to the tower of Hash!!!

So after letting it sit and settle I pull the bag out, hold it for what seems like forever as it drains and set it in a bowl to collect the dripping goodness...

20150226_121746.jpg

Bucket 0 goodness water...

20150226_121820.jpg

Take it into the kitchen to the tower 0 hash ( that I did not get a picture of because I got high) and pour it in!
Hear is the tail end of the water... Mmmmmmmm..... :hump:

20150226_122103.jpg

Now grab that sprayer and go to town. Rinse it pretty good with cold water. DO NOT USE WARM OR HOT as it will glue it all to the bags. Same with touching it, it will get sticky.

20150226_122159.jpg

Use a spoon and scoop out the goodness. I spaced out the pic in the red bag (because I got high).

20150226_142111.jpg

Toss it on your drying material... I let it wick off. There are enough mashed in trichomes already...

20150226_152255.jpg

Once it is wicked off it goes on a glass dish to dry. Chop it up so it wont hold moisture...

20150226_153622.jpg

Today's haul... The far left is the unknown strain, middle is the Platinum Bubba and the right side is the Holy Grail/XJ mix.. The smallest piles are obviously the upper bags. The large piles are the 72 bag. I forgot that last year I figured out that the 25 bag was not worth the effort so I left it out. Down the drain baby!!!!!

20150226_160500.jpg

After it dries I will hot roll it then put it away for later since I am still smoking on last years chunks...
If you have not checked out https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-french-cannoli-hash-thread.648510/page-222#post-11353784 do so, there is some great info in there!!!

Been busy for awhile and haven't updated my thread !! Had to pull the transmission out of the wife's car for a rebuild. Just got the parts today so it will kill the next few days for me! :cuss:

The wife brought home a new thermometer for the back yard. Much better than the cat one Lol!! Bet you can tell where she got it! That's right! From work!! She also brought home three 750 mill bottles of Jack Daniels, 3 bottles of Bacardi and 6 more bottles of wine!! That puts us at over 100 bottles of wine on hand...o_O I need to start drinking more!!
20150402_121413.jpg

I am almost done with my seed runs and will be getting back to growing for smoke soon. Of coarse the seedy bud will be made into hash so no waste there!! :hump:

I did however grab some more soil supplies today! Time to get it mixed up and cooking for the next round of plant's. I will be mixing it with my used soil then filling a couple of 18 gallon tubs to see how well the plants like more room in the soil.

20150402_115055.jpg

The Holy Grail and Platinum Bubba are both a huge hit!! I was told to step up my game Soooooooooooooooooo :weed::clap:

I had a chance to mix up some new soil two weeks ago using the above goods and let it sit until today. 25 gallons consisting of 1/3 used soil, 1/3 Pro Mix hp, 1/3 Happy Frog soil conditioner and 1/3 perlite. I know, that's 4/3 but hey!! I added 1 cup each of the meals and what not. It's going to be crazy hot soil so we will see what happens!!:spew:

I put a Platinum Bubba into a 18 gallon tub full of it today and put it in the red room.

20150420_083620.jpg

The two faded plants are in used soil that I did not re-amend and should have. There is a Blue Magoo behind those that IS in re-amended soil and is beyond the day that the fading had started on all of my previous plants.

I mixed some of the new soil with some more used soil and up potted my vegging plants from 1/2 gallon containers to 1.5 gallon. I sprinkled some Mykos into the pot's before setting the plant's in. I am hoping for good results.

20150420_094954.jpg

Mmmmmm Plant waste!!!!
I have started both an indoor compost bin and an out door now that it is warm outside. I plan on top dressing with it on my no till containers (big red tubs). The outdoor bin will be used out side only.

That purple pot is a Holy Grail, number 8 is a Platinum Bubba, number 2 is a XJ13, number 16 is a Blue Magoo and number 15 is a Platinum Bubba. I have 2 Platinum Bubbas and 3 Holy Grails in the cloner and am just waiting for the Xj and Blue Magoo to get big enough to wack the tops off for clones. I might discontinue the Blue Magoo but am undecided right now. It grows wonderfully hard and large flowers that are stony as hell but the smell is less than desirable! It smells like musty whatever.... Moldish... Smells that way while growing also so I know its not moldy buds. It just kinda blows to see some fat nugs just to open the jar and smell :spew:

I have some beans from what I recently crossed that I will replace it with. That is if they don't turn gay on me LOL!!!!

I had an unknown strain that tastes like citrus/lemons pollinate a Platinum Bubba, Holy Grail and a XJ13. I have a baggie full of pollen sacks for later use if all goes well. That unknown strain produces large dense flowers which would be a nice addition to the Holy Grail and Platt Bubba both of which produce medium sized dense flowers.

The two fading plants in the red room both have seeds in them. One is a Platt Bubba and the other is a XJ13. I am watching that Blue Magoo closely for sign of teh aids. So far no seeds or pollen sacks!!! I don't want that red tub to seed on me.............................

Been awhile since I updated my thread. Since mixing new soil with the new amendments things have gotten better. I stopped storing water in a large container with an air stone and went back to using 1 gallon milk jugs. Using an air stone causes the ph to rise above 8.0 and that is no bueno!!! I no longer check the ph of the water but let it sit over night.

Here is the first red tub so far. Platinum bubba at day 44. Just starting to fade some of the large fans. I also had to string up 3 branches so far.

IMG_1758.JPG
IMG_1760.JPG

This Platinum bubba was the next to go in the new soil and into the room. Day 19

IMG_1769.JPG

IMG_1771.JPG

The next one up is a Holy Grail at day 15

IMG_1761.JPG

IMG_1763.JPG

Next is another Platinum bubba at day 10 I did not top this plant.

IMG_1773.JPG

IMG_1775.JPG

Last but not least is a XJ-13 at day 9

IMG_1765.JPG

IMG_1767.JPG

I am diggin the red tubs! I check them with a moisture probe and so far they need water every 7-10 days.o_O They get 1/2 gallon for two watering's then 1 gallon then back to 1/2 gallon twice then...... 1 gallon will give me about 3 cups of runoff.

That smart pot needs water every 3rd day and will eventually get put away when I get more 18 gallon tubs.

I changed up my soil mix after the first red tub. All of the others consist of:

18 gallons total:
1/2 used soil
1/4 Pro-mix HP
1/4 Happy frog soil conditioner
add perlite until it looks good

1/4 cup each:
azomite
humic acid
kelp meal
alfalfa meal
crab meal
oyster shell
green sand
epsom salt

I put the plants directly into this mix without cooking.

This is what I did to the red tubs prior to filling with soil.

Drill drain holes

IMG_1682.JPG

add 2 inches of Hydroton pebbles

IMG_1683.JPG

cover with shade clothe and fill with soil. this insures no standing water in the soil.

My strain crossing experiment is going great so far! :hump:

I crossed an unknown indica dominant strain that tastes like lemon with a Platinum bubba. I pulled around 90 seeds out of the buds so far and will pull more as I smoke it!
I popped two of those beans and so far they look wonderful. :weed:

Here is one of them next to a Platinum bubba. It is the one on the right. this pic was taken 6/2

IMG_1729.JPG

Here it is today.

IMG_1781.JPG

Here are both of them with the other kids. they are on the far left.

Thanks for popping in!!!

used soil works great for the base of a new mix!! Plus it keeps the cost down. :hump:
