Now for the fun stuff. The AKR has fully broken soil and is on its way to standing upright! The Quick One has also broken soil for the most part, id say itll be fully out and going by the end of tomorow.

My Northern Light x Big Bud seed might be a loss. Its split and looks like a root was or maybe is starting but its definitly not white... Looks kinda rotten to me so idk. Im gonna give it another day and if it doesnt go then i may start a bubblelicious. Havnt decided yet but thats for another time.

Yea, when I decided to switch from HPS lights to LED lights last year I made the mistake of asking "what's the best LED for growing marijuana", and boy did that stir up a hornets nest...There are several members (one is actually a moderator I think) that have tested different LEDs on commercial grows & I would reach out to them for advice. I went with the spydr 600 from BML because the manufacturer is only 45 minutes away from me, but I'm sure you can probably get a really good light for a lot cheaper...GL

So! My Northern Lights x Big Bud seed came thru and pushed a big fat root. Got her in the dirt lastnight

The AKR is going strong. I cant wait till shes bigger lol. The Quick One is doing good as well. It popped up with the seed husk stuck to it but that finally came off and let it open up.

Getting my new intake fan today so hopefully itll b what i was lookin for. Also got my 1gallon pots in. Gonna try a couple out on the next grow and see how they g.

Yeah thats what the breeder discription said so i figured that sounded good lol. I still have 6 seeds of the AKR left so ill be growing it for a while!

Ok soooo..... I got my new intake fan hooked up. Its pretty much what i expected so thats not bad and i have gotten my temps to hang around 75-95℉ consistantly. Thats better than 110°+ but still not where i want it. Id feel alot better if i could get the temps down to like 75-85℉ and the only things i can think is to get a small clip fan and try and circulate more air off the lamp, buy a new fan with higher cfm for my exhaust, or buy both. Or just scrap my fans altogether and just get matching 6" inlines at like 440cfm. Not sure what to do now...

If you're using MH or HPS lights then you cld switch to LEDS or t5's and that would help a lot with the temps.

I want to get an LED light eventually but im not ready to jump in on that yet. T5s are kind of out of the question for me. I dont have the room for them and I dont want to have to change my set up every time i want to flower. I also dont have room for a veg tent/flower tent. I chose autos because they are supposed to be simple lol one light set up, fans, tent, and constant light schedual and maybe light nutes.

Its just blowing mind that my tent is only 20cubic feet (2'x2'x4') and both my fans are right at 200cfm. My hps is only 250w. 10x the air moventment should be enough id think but obviously im wrong lol

Update time!

I still have a heat issue but i kind of have it leved a bit... For now lol. Im trying different things as i go along and trying to figure out the best way to scrub more heat. Of course the best place to grow in my house is the hardest area to grow in. Im considering a window fan which would be the quickest, cheapest, and easiest way but im also looking at just getting a portable AC unit but that has some pretty big cons for me.

Enough of that crap and on to the girls!!!

The AKR is still lookin good and growing strong with a thick stock even though iv pretty much put her in an oven and the Q1 is lookin really nice! Shes startin out with some fat little leaves. The more she grows the more excited i get to see what shell look like in the end (if i make it that far......). Honestly im kind of suprised that they both arnt all curled up and dead by now lol

Week 1!

The Northern Lights x Big Bud failed to finish breakin soil and died. Not sure why it moved so damn slow but thats alright. So now im down to just 2 plants.

The Aghan Kush Ryder is lookin good. Shes movin along and doesnt seem to mind the temps. That takes a little stress off me but not much lol i still have to get them down 10° or so .

The Quick One is also pushin along really well. Shes started a big push on growth and im excited to see what she does.

I would ask folks on here about that light before buying it. It's been several yrs now since I researched LED's so I might be confusing it with another one, but I think a lot of people had negative reviews on that light...GL

For sure man ill have to do that. Its one of the few brands i actually havnt seen much fighting about but that doesnt really mean shit lol. Im still looking so thats just the one i have my sights on right now. Itll probably change here n a couple days.

Try asking Dr Who, I think one of his staff might be one of the girls that tests LEDs for various manufacturers...GL

Day 12 & 11

AKR lookin nice! shes put on some height in the last couple days and is coming along nicely.

The Q1 is doing good. shes taking her time but really swells and grows after waterings. shes started to get some heith also but not nearly as much as the AKR.

Week 2!

Both plants are doing well. The AKR has actually pushed a few hairs today and has a nice smell going. also small undergrowth is starting top pop out.



Its hard to see the hairs but ill try and get better pics here in the next few days. The Quick One is still moving along slowly but looks good. she really does the most growth right after a good watering. she is behind a few days from the AKR but has a good smell. its alot more skunky than the AKR


My temps have also leved alot. my set up still runs about 5° too hot but its for only about 2hrs of the 18hr cycle. the rest of the time its between 75-86℉. No nutes added yet either. i noticed very slight burn on the tips of the AKR but it hasnt gotten worse and all new growth looks fine.

Days 18 and 19

The Afghan Kush Ryder is still doing great. shes putting out hairs everywhere now. nothing impressive lol but its exciting to see!


The Quick One is doing good. i noticed today when i got home from work that the new top leaf growth was starting to twist. not exactly sure whats up with that so im gonna watch her closely and see what happens. temps dont seem to be a problem and she seems to be more sensative to the soil (FFOF) than the AKR by far. but either way she still looks good so far.


I also ordered a Galaxyhydro 300w grow light tonight. Got it on Amazon for $99.99 with free 2day shipping so i figured what the hell. i think my next grow ill run it the entire time and see if it compares to the 250w hps i have.

Quick update...

So the Quick One doesnt seem to have any damage done to her. The leaflets that were twisting have not twisted any more and has showed some vigorus growth today. im still going to watch her close but i feel a bit more relaxed. my guess after doing some reading in the plant problems section is that i was under watering. seems kind of crazy but i gave her a good watering and it seems to have helped so hey...

The Aghan Kush ryder has givin zero fucks as to nute burn, wind, high temps, low watering, and just over all being messed with while i try and dial my tent in lol. For sure a badass starin that i think im going to include in each order of seeds from now on. So far shes been true to the breeder discription from what i can tell (at least on the ease of growth and high tolerance for stress). i cant wait to see what she yeilds!!!

Id also say that the Afghan Kush Ryder has started flowering. tomorow is 3 weeks since she broke soil so i think shes right on time of not slightly early. The Quick One has also started to push out some hairs and show her sex. That puts her about 4 days behind the AKR but thats alright.

My ladys are also looking nice. i switched out my hps for a Galaxyhydro 300w LED to try it out and see what it does for my temps... so far im really liking what im seeing. not sure if its really good to switch lights like that but it happened lol.

The Afghan Kush Ryder is starting to bud alot now. the Quick One has a good ammount of hairs showing and is growing nicely.

Days 23 and 24

My Quick One started to flower and has gotten to be about the same heigth as my Afghan Kush Ryder. Shes having some issues tho with some pretty rough leaf hook. my temps are stable at 75-86℉ so the heat issue isnt really thing anymore. Im thinking its still a watering issue but im not sure. I havnt started feeding yet either so i know its not that. possably the soils messing her up? its just the top incoming growth thats doing it. all the previous growth that had the same signs came out fine and all but I just dont want it to be a bigger problem down the road.

The AKR is doing good. i think im going to start a very light feeding on the next watering and see how she takes it. Shes at about 6" right now... not sure if thats what she should be at at day 24 but she looks good! im hopeing for a little more size out of her but if not i know ill still have something to harvest in the end.
