Hempy Buckets PLZ HELP

Hello everyone. So I am doing my first hempy buckets ever. I have them in 2.5 gallon pots, 3.5 gallon pots, and 5 gallon pots. Some of my leaves are starting to yellow on the bottom of the plant.

I have chunky perlite filled in bottom of bucket passed the first two inches where I have my drainage hole. Then the rest of the mix is perlite and coco. I planted them about 5-6 days ago.

I watered 1/4th strength with sensi a and b. voodoo juice, hygrozyme, and b-52. I was told by a friend to water extra the first tome so I watered them more than I probably should have the first time.

Other than the yellow leaves my main issue is that the coco has not dried out much after 5-6 days. I am not sure what to do because I figure they need to be fed again. I planned on foliar feeding with b-52 today to give them something. But didn't know if i should wait to dry out more because they are pretty damn moist still.

When I tip the bucket to the side water comes out of the reservoir, so should i tip them over and let all of the water drain out? or will that not do anything. Or should i let them dry out for a few more days

Any advice would be helpful. I am a newbie so learning as I go. I will include some photos as well. Thanks dudes.

if u water ontop of wet medium you will be over watering them you prob give too much water on the first time they could be going yellow because they have been drowned by excess water its hard to know for sure but wet medium tells me not to water until top few inches of medium is dry

Yeah makes sense. So how about foliar feeding them for the next 3-4 days so they can get some kind of feeding? u think that might be good or just wait it out?

I also plan on spraying down with b-52 tonight in a foliar spray. Figure that would help it a bit. Would you guys recommend foliar spraying plants for 3-4 days until the coco drys out. Like foliar spraying with my sensi a and b, hygrozyme, voodoo, and b-52? Just so they can get some kind of food?

Please help guys.

I was wondering if it would be smart to let the coco dry out a bit and then just water again once it is a little dryer given the pots are pretty heavy still after 5 days. In the meantime I could foliar feed everything. If I do this should I empty the res since the roots cant reach the water in the res as of yet. Or will that not make a difference if I empty the res or not since when I water again it will replace the water thats currently in rez.

Thanks

yes let the coco dry out before feeding again and when the coco dries out a bit the roots should soon grow out towards the res

personally i dont folier feed you dont want to over do the nutes and if ur adding nutes in the feed water u dont need to be adding it in a folier sprey only time i would sprey is to sort out deficiencies can u post updated pics and if the res hasnt been used at all by the plants i dont see any need to empty it

I have never done a hempy...

From looking at the pictures they are way to wet!! I have read up on hempy buckets and believe I read that you should let them dry out some prior to adding more water.

My opinion is that you are drowning the roots which is causing the yellowing and drooping!!

Yeah I have only watered them once. I watered way to much taking the advice of a friend. Problem is the more I have read it has said you want to slow feed hempys to start off and wants roots develop you can start feeding more.

I havent watered them since i transplanted them lst saturday which was 6 days ago. They are still really wet. Maybe give them 3-4 days more nd hopefully they dry

also would it be bad to take them out of the big pots and put them in smaller ones for now or will that shock the plants? Thanks for your responses

If you transplant them, you will just add more stress. The more stress the plant has the slower it will grow. Overwatering, and soaking in the overwatering causes stress, damping off/root rot. I would not transplant them, exp if your min size pot is 2.5g. Just leave them be where they are.

If your tipping the medium over and water is coming out, that's overwaterd! The medium should be damp and moist, not soaked. You water until the point you start to see runoff, watering after that is pointless. Water it slow and spin the bucket around while doing so to water it evenly. A lot of growers remember the weight of the plant when almost bone dry as compared to when it wet, just another helpful speculation.

Foliar feeding is a poor option for new growers in my opinion. If your using slow release ferts, it's easily nute burned. Water soluble nutrients are more easy to control and arranged around for a foliar feeding. It still either way is very easy to over feed this way, and can cause burn spots if not properly done.

P.s ... Superthrive helps prevent stress, lower stress and is a root stimulator. It's also been used when taking clones before gel/powder is applied.
It's used in almost every type of garden and is very popular as a foliar spray!! Had no NPK value so it will not burn your plants. You can buy this at Walmart, Lowes and home depot garden section or any garden store..

Good luck!

Thanks for responding. Yeah i agree they are overwatered.

Water always comes out when you tip the pot over in a hempy bucket because of the reservoir that is located two inches below the hole. There is always water in their because there is no drainage holes in the bottom of the bucket.
