Hemp-sun Mosaic Virus

I've recently had a grower friend with a Mosaic virus outbreak. I've been trying to find current information but I'm not seeing much out there. Has anyone else heard of this being a problem in the mid-Michigan area?

The problem with tmv is it spreads through direct contact. All leafs roots and soil should be destroyed. I have never heard of tmv ever being a problem in cannabis. Not saying it couldn't happen but it is very rare. broad mites can resemble tmv and is a more likely cause. Do you know if your friend has had any samples tested or is this a self diagnosis? Tmv can only be seen with a micrograph. upload_2014-11-15_23-59-23.jpeg

I've got it. Running my last batch thru flower and starting over. The only plant that had any problem was my Huel Perkins Cannatonic. Everything else ran fine. Yield was even record on a few strains.
Starting over with clones. I'm worried some of the seeds I made could transfer the virus.

Hemp-sun Mosaic Virus

With this virus present all of your plants not just one would be infected ?
did you send samples away for testing?

I dont doubt you norby and I've seen hundreds of claims of virus but in the end it was always a different issue.

No need to send samples away since I'm getting rid of it(I don't need a definitive ID). Def not broad mites with my yields. And they aren't glossy or shiny.
Started hindering my cannatonic yields about 2 years ago. Browning on bottom leaves when it gets dry and hot. Have seen the swirls in my Mob Boss leaves. Have seen a little bit of the symptoms in a few strains from time to time. And I saw a significant change in teh yields on my cannatonic when it hit but if I baby it the yields go up tremendously.
I always thought it was magnesium deficiency since it didn't hit anything else really. This winter it got hot and dry and I see the symptoms worsened and I added another strain that showed the swirly leaves. I also saw pics on MMMA from the guy who got it there and then searched out more pics and saw some of the different qualities in different strains I grow. Decided it was mosaic virus and decided I'd make one more run and start over. It's not a big deal and I think I've had it before now seeing the swirls it produces in strains it doesn't really affect. Anyone could have it really and just think their strains are a little tempermental. It didn't really change too much or cause too much of a hinderence.

Def an infection going around and people are putting out some low grade cannabis... Shameful to see the cat get infected. Be careful out there GG4 started this mess in Michigan ,... stay away from it.

did your friend send samples away to be tested and verified?
In co we need better alternatives for testing. I would like to se tests available to consumers since as rec enthusiast I have 0 (zero) capacity to test plant material unless I do it in my house, which if any kind of solvent extraction were involved would be against the law as well. The Dx analyzer is prohibitivly expensive and from what I can tell would be at best questionable result. Colormetric tests for pesticide residual should be common imo but I haven't been able to find any.
It's like they expect me to break the law so they can bust me a show the world what a horrible plant this is.

Could've been where it came from. I got gg#4 and got rid of it a while ago. Seemed to not coincide with any specific addition to the garden. thought it may have come from smoking cigarettes as i thought it was tobacco mosaic virus. Didn't seem to hinder things much on a few strains and could easily be transported around on clones without showing ANY signs on certain strains.

broad mites are way smaller than spider mites. upload_2017-5-16_16-46-4.jpeg

would mites choose specific strains over and over for years to infect while leaving the remainder of a garden uninfected?
Maybe, it seemed to happen to me. Mites would hit my blueberry strain real hard and not bother the others so much. Squash beetles attack squash, tomato worms attack tomatoes.
