If you can afford it the best thing to do is buy a reverse osmosis system High Tech Garden Supply This is just one example, you can probably find them cheaper on ebay. Do you have access to alot of rainwater? Whatever water you use just remember to bring the ph up or down to around 6.5 Baking soda works fine for up, Apple cider vinegar for down. They also sell ph up and down solutions but I like to stay as organic as possible. I also keep an 18 gallon rubbermaid tub full of water with a pump and airstone to keep the water bubbling and full of oxygen. I don't need ph up or down anymore because the bubbling makes my tap ph from 7.1 down to 6.4 -good enough for me. What kind of ph meter do you have? Be sure you are getting accurate readings.

just get a ph meter or some ph strips then just adjust the waters ph as necessary. you can usually get BIG bottles of ph up or ph down for fish ponds about $10 a bottle at most pet shops (could be cheaper other places but thats all i have around me in this little redneck town and i needed it like right then)

I have the strip and also i bought from hyponic store that have a dropper i can test eaither the strip or the bottle tester for ph . if i get 20 gal and fill it up with my tap water will it help clean up or should i run water thru filter ?

I hace metal light and hps each is 400 watts and which one should i use for veg. stage ?
Right now the light is about three feet away from plants . there no yellow leaves or any burn .. but still waiting to see which is female or male ... my ph is 8.0 with foxfarm soil . any advice ? Well mh for veg hps for flower,i would use 400mh for veg both for flower as long as you can keep the heat down.A 400watt light should not be three feet away from plants,around 12" is good.They will strech bad this far away.a ph of 8 is WAY too high.Use vinagar to bring your water down to arould 5.5 yes 5.5 just because its so high,water with this & continue doing this to the ph gets down to 6.5.Use a dropper when putting vinagar in your water usally ONE drop brings it down a hole point(6.5 one drop+6.4.)Most nutes bring your water down to 6-6.5 so remeber that.Good Luck & Stay Safe!!Ps i would use the glass ph tester over the stips.

You should be able to tell sex on most strains by 3 weeks veg. Look at the 4th or 5th node with a magnifying glass and look for the male and female preflowers. They will often double or triple in height when flowering so figure out how tall you want them to finish at and flower accordingly.
I dont know why someone would tell you to put your light 12 inches from the plants when you already said the temps were at 80 from 3 feet away. And MH run hotter than HPS. 12 inches is a perfect distance, but your temps have to be right. Go by the temp at the top of the plants. Keep a fan blowing between the plant tops and the light, especially if you dont have a vented hood. Everyones growing environment is different.People should give advice accordingly and stop finding it so easy to help hurt someones garden by lack of diligent questioning. Snuff

hey snuff.....under 30 post and you seem to know your shit. where did you learn??? is this your first online cannabis growing home or was there another before this one?

this guy may be a newbie to the site but the advice he is bringing to it strikes right where it needs to and addresses exactly where it should.
