Hey guys one of my plant had some problem with reddish/purple stem and its healthy just isn't up to par with the other ones, so i flushed it with ph'd water at 6.8 then when it came out i test the runoff and the ec was like 3.0 something and ph was about 6.4, then i keep flushing and all the ppm is going down now but my runoff ph is at 7.0 now? Now im flushing my plants with 6.3ph'd water and its still running off at 7.0? Is 7.0 ph for soil good?

hey guys ok i just flush my second pot and the same thing happen the first runoff has low ph which HIGH ec value, then as i keep flushing with plain ph water at 6.3 the runoff keeps staying at 7.0? Does my soil need some sort of ph fixer thing?

I run my Ph around 7 and their are problems. About the stem some plants have different gentics. If the leafs look healthy no worries. Good luck man.

hey man, you'd need some ph adjustment IF the PH needed adjusting. Purple stems are not bad, most of the time thats part of the plants genetics. You will see many more in the future. If dead spots show up on leaves AND you have purple stems you need some calcium, and potassium/phosphorous. The three are usually the dominant nutes in a budding fertilizer. My PH in soil is always just a hair below 7... 6.4 shouldnt be bad depending on what kind of nutrients you are using (and how long it's been at 6.4) i.e. liquid chemical, or organic, etc. When nutes are high in the soil the PH drops. Whats interesting is the roots rely on bacteria that rely on PH to break down nutrients so the roots can absorb them . I found that out recently so it might be good to find a hydro store and buy some scorpion by advanced nutrients. it has like 50 something different kinds of bacteria and enzymes that help plants with the uptake.

Dude thankyou that makes alot of sense. I just discovered something new about soil =)

When i was flushing with plain water with ph at 6.3 and the runoff keeps on being at 7 or tad below i found it weird, so i tried some nutes at 6.4 ph, and Jippie! my runoff was at 6.4 and ec at 1.5 which is what i was watering it with.

Wow soil is weird lol.

soil is harder than hydro. I started a few yrs ago thinking I was so high tech with my hydro kit and books and shit... I pulled it off, but it was because you can control and know whats in your water, but you have have no idea EXACTLY what is in your soil. You can make hydro adjustments on the spot and KNOW you did it right if you have the right gear...Soil smokes are way better though.. and only difficult when there is a problem, but you can iron those problems out if you work with a lot of constants from here on out

Could not agree more.

soil is pretty difficult.Especially organic growing as it so hard to control and adjust. I went back and did a soil grow for fun since I have been aero and hydro so long.Man to adjust soil ph is a thing of lonnnnggg skills neded.I add a littl high phos bat guano to kix during flowering and in days boom plants completely yellow.Buds stayed purple as they were to but every leaf is yellow. I added flushed with low ph, I added ph down crystals to soil and added some nitrogen to try and free it. I eventually added flora clean to a few flushes and still no effect. I have accepted this will be a poor crop and that re greening wont happen in soil.Good luck my ph was at 6.8 then went to 8 with a half water dose of guano.

Hey Filthy,
That problem with the leaves?
Are they clones,do you use MH to veg.
Having some yellowing myself, pretty uniform on the crop. Just around the bud sites and the surronding leaves, I have tried everything.Had to raise the lights finally, like 3'.They greened up (a little).Slowly dropping the lights.
Just wondering....

I use florescent T8 lights to veg then into the hps light.I started 1 week of 400 watt hps then 2 weeks of a 600 watter and now riding out the 1000 watter. They were real nice and healthy til the guano went in and then in 2 days they satrted to yellow and then they got crispy down low and then brown spots then the entire plant went yellow and the ph was real high and still high wont go down.

Im right there with your waffle Im always gonna be an aero/hydro supporter as its to easy to not get good results lol

I wish I could give up the soil. I am way to scared to try hydro. Not forgiving enough.
Just mastered cloning myself.
Hydro-scary
Soil-easy

My bleaching was from lights btw.Raised them and they got green. First batch of clones to flower.oops

I haven't done both but hydro seem easier. No guessing over what soils to use and ferts and ph can be changed almost immediately.

I guess I wasn't paying any attention, never thought I would see you using soil, Waffle. LOts of good information here for soil growers. VV
