Help with ec pen

Gidday Ive been given a ec pen but its in ppm now where I live we have crap water,the readings from the tap water
are 450ppm am I supped to add that on to my nutrient reading like if I wanted to run it at 1450ppm is that included or is it 1850ppm if that makes any sense

Yeah man, that is included, if u wanted to run at 1450, then u need to add 1000ppm to ur current water.
U can run a purifier to drop that down tho, and u can get more nutrient in it without getting a higher ppm.

Thx for that XxninjaxX been having a problem last couple days they seem to have gone a pale green color and was wondering if I was starving them the only only thing different this time is new globes I got a new digital ballast 600 and a 400 maybe raise the light a bit in case its bleaching them ive got the 600 16' away and the 400 12" away

The light should b ample room, that sounds like a problem either a zinc/iron deficiency/toxicity.. Always hard to diagnose without pictures.
Get sum pics up but start urself a new thread in the right section so some of the guys who r wizzes n hang out there can help u better. Peace.

you bought calibration fluid for that ec pen. Mine was off by 156ppm right out of the box.

Thats y u get the guys at the shop to calibrate it up 4 u :)
The guys over this way r always more than happy to help with this sort of thing..

Guys at my shop are just interested in selling new gear... they have absolutely no gardening experience, or the ins & outs of the gear... sad but true. That pen may be calibrated to one of 3 scales which will effect how the cal solution you use actually reads... some ref solutions only list for one particular scale. More info on the actual model/make of the pen will help. That being said, my tap comes in at 830 on a 700 scale. RO it brother... 20. Peace.

Hey Growhi your right the pen was out by 220 and said the same about the
3 scales they calibrated it for me know problems! thats a heap out
