Im soon going to start curing my buds and this time around i got some boveda 62 packs, anyone use these before? Have a few questions.
So when i start curing after drying, do i basically just throw the pack in the jar, and open jar a few times during the first 24hrs and after that can i just leave the jars closed without the need for burping anymore?
What do you guy do?/ suggest, any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you have it right. Technically, I don't think you need to burp but I still do for a few days.

One thing to know with them. They work great for curing and store the weed well. But it is a little moist for smoking in my opinion, hard to break up, wreaks havoc on a grinder. I pull some out of my jars and put into a small candy tin every day or so (as needed) so it gets some time to dry a bit before consumption.

Honestly I put mine in way too early the first time and it was too moist for too long imo. I think you need to give it some time in the jars (after drying) n burp for several days up to maybe even 2ish weeks (depending on your humidity and how dry you let em get before jarring) before throwing the packs in. The jars I let go longer before placing the packs in smelled better, tasted better and smoked better than the ones that got the packs early AND the ones that didn't get any boveda packs...but then again you don't really want to wait too long or there's no point in using em at all...

I use them because my area if really low in rh, sub 40% most days. I've noticed that if they're not ready to be jarred, it'll prolong the curing process a bit in my experience. I have a couple mason jar lids with hygrometer / thermometer built in so I can watch the specific numbers. I agree with ayr0ns post for the most part.
Humidipaks are great, but don't be overzealous with them. Honestly, curing in my opinion is only useful in very arid places where you can't dry properly, for long term storage or for chasing after certain terpenoids (terpens change their chemical structure when stored long term). I had a jar of 501stOG that I jarred up too soon with the 62% humidipaks and the hay smell never went away, it was a bummer.

Just make sure its fully dry and burped a couple times before you use the packs. Around the 10th day or so i use the packs
I agree with this statement. I use boveda every time. You have to let them dry out first, but not too dry. It can be tricky. I let them get crispy, jar them, they get wet again, pull them out for 1/2 day or a few hours, put them back in..repeat a couple times..then burp them for a few days, then add a boveda pack. Not that I intended to do it this way, but being around the jars every day this is what I did and it worked out well. Curing is just drying slowly and the buds dry from the middle out. If they get to dry, too quickly (here 15 rh in the winter) they lose all smell and taste. I'm going to get a small 2x4 tent where i can dry for about 7-10 days at about 50rh then into a jar w/ a pack, minimal burping. Well at least that's the plan. Boveda preserves the current state more than anything else, especially if that state is at or about 62rh naturally. Boveda recomends 1 pack per oz, but I think that's too wet and I prefer 1 pack per 2oz. I can keep the rh at about 56-58 which i think is perfect for storage and smoke. Good luck!

I would agree with others that you want to get in the vicinity of your ideal jar RH% before relying on the Boveda packs to keep things at the optimum moisture level.

As a first time noob with 10 jars of buds to cure this past season, I tried drying for 3 - 5 days, then placing into jars with the Boveda 62 packs. Luckily I kept a close eye on the jars and opened them multiple times a day because I didn't have them quite dry enough.

After about a week, I was still opening and airing them out twice a day but I decided one jar seemed dry enough so I didn't check it for about 4 - 5 days. I thought the Boveda would keep it from mold, which it seemed to since there was nothing indicating mold growth. However, that one jar developed a very noticeable musty, mildew smell that none of the other jars had so I dumped it.

Funny thing is I had 2 jars from this 1 Kosher Tangie plant - 1 got the mildew smell, while the other that was open and closed daily developed a hay smell. All my other varieties were very potent smelling and turned out fine. My guess is the KT plant was a SI hybrid and I should have waited longer to harvest than the other 2 indica plants.

Can't wait till next spring when I can choose some new varieties and use what I learned this year.
