Help With BHO Wax Question! (WATER)

Hello,
This is my first post...i recently did 2 runs of wax. The first run was about 1LB of shake, trim, and popcorn nugs. I recently found out that it was frozen and left to thaw for 2 days.

The second run was 1/2 LB of nug that was preserved at room temperature in a turkey bag.

During both blasting sessions, which were both into pyrex dishes floating in warm water, the wax developed what appeared to be ice crystals in the wax itself not on the pyrex, they began to disappear as the wax became viscous.

My question is how do i get what i believe to be excess water/moisture out of my finished wax? Currently both runs are sitting in their pyrex dishes on a griddle at about 125-130 degrees fahrenheit. Is there anything i can do to it to extract the moisture so it will crumble? I have whipped to the point where there are no bubbles, the wax smells like the shake and nug but it seems to be moist on top.

I used the same method i always do, but this the first time i have seen ice crystals and this the first time it hasn't crumbled.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

If the products you are extracting from are either too old or allow too much chlorophyll and other byproducts into your oil then your oil will not harden up. Running pure shake it's hard to get a solid wax from but it is possible if it is very fresh and frozen before you blast.

Room temp products also make it harder to get a very good product from. Best to deep freeze any material prior to blasting.

And at 125 to 130F you are taking the chance to turn your oil into a perma goo extract that won't firm up to a honeycomb wax. It's better to let it heat purge for a longer period of time around 110F to see if your oil will firm up. Too high a temp will perma goo your oil. Different strains and different starting materials will firm up at different temps but a good basic rule of thumb is to try not to let it go over 110-115 max to be safe.

Don't worry about ice or whatever showing up in the pirex when your blasting pre heat/pre vac. It will dissipate as you purge.

Purging, whether it's heat alone, or heat and vac purging will take some time and will vary depending on how much tane you used and how much fats and lipids you have in your oil to start with. Some oil extracted from some strains wax up very quickly. Others take a long time. I've had oils wax up in only 8 hours or so and some that have taken up to 20 hours of some heat and vacuum purging.

If you use different starting materials each time it's hard to get things dialed in to know what's going to happen each time. Gotta play safe and keep a close eye on it the whole time while experimenting with new materials.

Good luck
