Hey guys sorry to keep throwing these papers out there, but it is only because I repsect your opinions so much. Well my new essay has to be a specific one that focuses on one specific topic. This is the topic pick that I have come up with and I was just wondering if you guys had info/sources you would be willing to contribute that would be much appreciated.

Here is my topic pick, and my essay question is what is in bold. Thanks for the help guys.

Do you have a problem with the illegal classification of Marijuana in America today? Should Marijuana be classified along side Meth, PCP, Cocaine, and other hazardous drugs? Many people who believe that there should be a reform of Marijuana’s classification usually speak on the medical value of Marijuana. This is just one of the issues regarding the illegality of cannabis. Should there be provisions put in place for those who use the plant medically, and not for those who use it recreationally? How does the government justify the classification of the plant? Focusing on ONE aspect of the drug make an argument as to why marijuana should be not be in a Schedule 1 classification.

P.S.- I am all over the NORML site. Thanks again guys

Then you should have plenty of help. Maybe you should make the arguement about the difference between drug dealers and those who grow for personal use. Two completely different criminals.

I would, but I have to be very specific and that was the best topic question that the professor was cool with.

I dont know what makes it a schedule 1. The fact that its a schedule anything should imply that it is dangerous or hazardous in some way. I don't think it should be on a list with those other drugs simply cause its never killed anyone. They should replace marijuana with Alcohol if they wanted to be accurate for schedule 1 drugs.

Its good that your write about this. You never know how much change can come from showing just 1 person 'the light' or 'the truth' ya know.

You have to know what being in Schedule 1 means, and one of the most outrageous claims from that list is that the substance has no medicinal value. We know that Cannabis has medicinal value, so we use that reason why it should be reclassified.

The feds have used the Schedule 1 classification to suppress all research into the drug. Lyle Craker at UMass-Amherst has petitioned for permission to research for many years, the feds won't allow it because they know that any research will support reclassification.

yeah man, they only allow the research to take place at university of Missouri (mississippi maybe?). I'm sure keeping research in the ultra socially conservative bible belt/deep south hasn't had any affect on the studies
