help wiring thermostat

thanks jypsy dog. i'm sure that is the correct thermostat best suited for a plug application. but i wired it as uncle reefer suggested and it seems to be working fine and the thermostat is controlling heater as it should. i think it should be fine as the thermostat is really designed to control a much greater load than my 4ft tube heater.

from my very very limited knowledge of electrics i believe it's OK to under load just not to overload. i also have a circuit breaker attached between wall and plug. so think should be safe.

Should there be a fire, Insurance will not cover your modified application of the Thermostat. GOOD LUCK!

i'm not sure it is "modified application". here in the UK this type of thermostat would typically be wired between a mains supply and an electronic/gas boiler. but they are also used to control electric storage heaters and other types of heating devices... not sure why having it connect to the mains via a plug rather than beingh hard wired to mains would void any insurance policy? (so long as wired correctly of course)

are you an electrician?

quick update. i used the thermostat for a couple days and it worked fine, but wasn't too certain about the accuracy of the temperature sensor and also wanted to be able to monitor remotely. so ended up buying a device called sonoff th16 today nfor around £15(roughly $20) . very easy to set up, wiring diagram included. just set upper and lower temps and it switches device on and off accordingly. works with an app on android so you can monitor temp and humidity from anywhere. really pleased with it.

thanks again to uncle reefer and everyone else for your input.
