HELP!!! Trouble with Ebb N Flow Setup. Leave tips/curling & Film in Resevior

Ok so my babies are 16 days old today, Goat Cheese strain. Things were going well until a few days ago. The leave tips are burned, there was also a reddish film inside the resevior also. No light gets into the res, well very little. Is this from the Nutrients possibly? I flushed for 3 days straight Distilled water to stop the burn then added 1 ml per gallon Magi Cal to help with leave burn. Now the leaves are turning up. Can anyone advise on this? I was using the TechnaFlora Recipe for success kit @ 1/4 strength before this happened. 45ml BC Boost, 22ml BC Grow, 7ml Thrive alive B-1 Red, 7.5ml Magi-cal for 7 gallons distilled water. PH always between 5.5-7.0 Oh, and the specs are as follows. 400 Watt MH (22" above plants)125 Watt vertical mounted CFL w/ shroud. 6 x 6" Net pots in tray ebb n flow setup. Hydroton grow medium, 7 gallons nutrient solution in resevoir, flood every 6 hours for 6 mins. 2 fans circulating air in/out. Will post pics also. PLEASE HELP!!!!:-(:leaf:

What are your measured ppm?
I would look to two things to do differently.
One is to control the PH more tightly, say 5.5 to 6.0.
The other is to flood more often (say every four hours) and for longer (say 15 to 30 min).

By the pics, it could be very mild nute burn. Either go to 20% strength for a spell, or just wait ... they should grow out of it. Over all, I'd say they look pretty nice.
As for the reddish film ... do your mixed nutes have a color or colorant in them? What is the texture of the film ... gritty (minerals??) or slimy (pathogens)? Do you have hydrogen peroxide to hand? I'd be very worried about getting root slime. Tell me about the condition of the roots. Is the film in the res only, or also in the e&f tray?

Im @ 20 % nutrient strength. For the last 5 days I ran only water then magical on last 2. Upped watering to 6 times a day for 10 mins each time. The film is rather slimy but the roots look overall healthy. Very aggressive growth considering the age. I will post up new pics with this post. Currently running 5 gallons, just added 14" air stone to resevior. Also elevated pots out of water so only about bottom 1" is under water ( is this a good idea? ) check the pics. Thank you to all who respond to this. I care very deeply about the health of my plants, but being that this is my first hydro attempt I am making mistakes.

You're at 20% nutrient strength, and yet it sure does look like mild nute burn. I am not familiar with Magical ... what is it; how much do you use? Truly, without measured TDS it's pretty hard to do any meaningful diagnosis on this end. It's pretty much the next step in the decision tree. But if it is indeed nute burn, I'd try reformulating 20% core nutrients without any additives/auxiliaries ... see how they respond. cn

Magi cal is a technaflora product. Im using the recipe for success kit. Bc boost, bc grow, thrive alive b1 red, sugar daddy, and magi cal. Today i added this recipe to 5 gallons of water: 15ml bc boost, 7.5 ml bc grow, 2.5 ml thrive alive, 2.5 ml magi cal, 10ml sugar daddy. It says the ec for this recipe is .40 and 250 ppm.

Oh and the film is also in the tray. I cleaned and now today is first time running nutes again so i will update if the film persists.

you mean after you add all those ingredients to 5 gallons it equals about 250 ppm? or its 250 ppm of each supplement?

great post. looks like nutrient burn to me, back off ppm and your plants will pull through. they look pretty healthy. as for the red film- i think its from the hydroton because i had the same problem on two different hydroponic set-ups. and when i clean the hydroton alot of red shit comes off. so just keep your tray and res clean and you'll be good.
