Help please! Roots to Rez water ratio!!!

You water temp may be to hot. and its reacting with the nutes in a negative way. you might need colder temps. you could try using an a/c if its possible for your enviorment. those temps for the water definitly are asking for bad bacteria to grow. good luck man

Does it smell funny? Like stagnant?
Are the roots breaking apart easily?

If everything's growing fine and you don't have these symptoms, then you probably will have nothing to worry about.

However - the fact you have a lot of slime in there tells me that your res temps maybe way too high and assuming your a proper DWC, that it's not draining 4 times a day back into the header tank to remix and redistribute. Again tho that would give you a stagnant smell.

I'll also say again that your res it too high. Your pots need to be just off the surface- your roots will submerge themselves. Water and rockwool cubes make gunge!
Make sure you also wash any clay pebbles THOROUGHLY, before they go into your system. They put off a lot of dust which makes a funk in the water.

If you're using RDWC then I would suggest trying a different brand of nutrients and start singling out what it can and can't be.
Go with liquid nutes. Powders in your DWC are obviously causing problems here.

That's my take.
Does not look like hydroponic nutrients are being used. I believe those nutrients are organic. What's the ingredients on the back say?
There should be a gap between bottom of net pot, and res when doing DWc (deep water culture)/Bubbleponics.
Thanks for the help guys.. Answering some questions quickly..
No smell. They are pretty fragile and I would imagine they would fall apart if I touched them too hard. I do not know if it's organic nutes.

I would like it you guys could show a link to the best but simplest and cheapest liquid nutes I could use. Not this cheap sand shit this box supplier gave me.

Also, I'm going to lower the Rez water level and I suppose I'll top off with some cold pH'd water once or twice a day to get water temps down. Nothing else I can do in my very very limited circumstances. I have like no money left and no space in my room, everything was planned perfectly until now with no room for drastic changes :/

Yeah I'm going to start propping the box open a bit and blowing some cool air from a fan with a frozen gallon jug behind the fan blowing cool air into there. Whether or not it affects water temps idk but worth a try, I'm sure the plants will appreciate it.

Ionic bloom is what I use. It's a one part I use from start to finish. All you need is that and some Bluelab Ph down. Good to go.

i would suggest not letting light hit the roots. that could be a problem for the root system. depends on how big your propping it open. they should appreciate it for sure. but if you see negative results then you know. only because its possible for bacteria to get into the res with it open like that.

Nice and simple for the OP until he gets on top of his system and environment. Plus 1!

I agree, for now choose a liquid one part veg and one part bloom. After you got that down you can look into upgrading yor nutes into multiple splits if you like.

PS don't forget to keep the res level down below your basket! A couple of inches.

Thanks dudes.. Seems pretty simple and I guess anything is better then the dark as murky trace my current bytes give. My Rez is pretty light proof by the way, only time light may get in is when I'm changing water. Nothing drastic

Do I tear off my rotted roots? They smell horrible
If they're rotted they should break off pretty easily. Have you soaked and drained the roots several times in a bucket of water? Or the bath...?You don't want that shit breaking off and floating around your system.

Plants are gonna take some major shock tho either way...brace yourself loon!

At this point I would say get off what you can and see how they react. And be prepared that this could all very well mean a restart from clone or seed, and a fresh uncompromised system.

you need to cut the dead off the roots they are gonna fall off anyway and get some kind of tea or sterilizer asap! Pool shock, tea, h2o2, great white do something! thats one of the worse cases ive seen on here in a couple of months.

Like slinky said if they easily break off.

I would put some beneficials in there, or clean it up, and put hydro nutes in there.

They did fall off with a graze of a tissue, and I did clean the Rez. Plant still look good and is still perking towards the light somehow..
I have maxigrow expressed shipped to me coming in tomorrow. I added some hydro guard and I got my temps down to 73-75 from 84 where it was when I got home..

You guys made me want to throw the whole box off the balcony into the trash honestly lmao .. I'll let you know how they are doing in a day or two after I flush it and add some fresh nutes tmrw

Read above ^ and also they smelled like complete ass.. The whole rez did. Now the smell is starting to go away obviously and the nice smell of cannabis is coming back. Luckily the plant is so young so only way from here is up. Of course unless it completely dies overnight which would surprise me but oh well

These plants are almost noob proof man its all good. They wont die over night, just make sure next time you are on top of it and do not let it go for so long

It won't die over night. My concern was contaminating your new clean system environment. Make sure you get as much of the gunk and rot off the plants as possible. Dunking in a bucket or bath will help a lot

Ps- the box is great, don't chuck it and don't ever be disheartened by what you're doing. I'm still learning too, we all are, every day.
Learn how to own your system and be the boss of it! Be mr daddy cool :bigjoint:

Some hydro growers do the microflora beneficial thing.

I like to run a sterile res. Beneficials are good for soil because microbes break down the matter for the roots. With hydro the nutes are already broken down.

I keep the res between 65-72°F, and my water/nute solution gets 2 drops (not exceeding 3) from a pipette of bleach (nonscented) per gal (drops from the cap will kill your plant).

Yeah I've heard that the Rez water will usually be close to the temp of inside your grow box, so I've been working on lowering those temps to the low and mid 70's, it's hard enough to get that given where I live and even more so my apartment AC sucks. But I'm doing my best.

As far as the 2 drops of bleach goes, I was trying to stay away from that since I JUST supplemented hydro guard in there 2 days ago for the first time, so I'll see if that will help me. If not I'll resort to the 2 drops of bleach along with a tad of hydro guard. Hopefully cleaning the Rez and adding maxi grow instead of the nutes I'm using now will help. Maxigrow comes in the mail today
