Sorry for not reading the 3 pages of BS and bad info.

First off eating a sick animal is usualy a bad idea esipecally if you dont know whats wrong

What your describeing sounds like mateing damage from a agressive rooster , also this time of year is molting season

Post some picks and I would be happy to help, also Back Yard Chickens fourm is execelent

I would start suplementing the feed with a little extra protein , scrambled eggs, tabele scraps (chickens love chicken)

recipe for egg cannibalism and cannibalism of each other.

probably not molting if no other chickens have the same symptoms.

no roosters in the flock.

perhaps you should have read first.

Yea , I should have read first

Everything I have ever read about birds eating their own eggs , is that if they dont recognize it as eggs it will be OK becouse the birds will not connect the eggs to food . And in my limited experiance it seems very true. The same with cannibalism

but in my experiance chickens molt at slightly different times (if at all) One seems to get the idea then the rest will follow

just cause theirs no roosters in the 'flock' does not mean 1 of the neighbors could not be jumping the fence

LOL We use covers like that on psittacines who pluck. It's worth a try for a pet, it's not always successful though.

I'd up the protein in her feed, add a good source of calcium, potassium her water, separate her completely and allow her feathers to grow back. Then I'd re-introduce her.

If you dose the potassium right, you'll selectively take out the right chicken.

Thanks for all input and trolling

I dont think the chicken is that ill shes still has like dirt baths and looks like shes engaging in chickening related activities. The plot is do big and food so dirt cheap i think i dont mind keeping her alive for a few more months she how she does.
Does a rooster keep the chicken from bickering with eachother? I wanna bring these genetics into my flock:

I heard some people, not saying any names but they're in this thread, fuck their chickens. Is that what's been going on here? maybe not you, but do you have a teenage boy neighbor or creepy older guy with a mustache living close to you?

It don't calm them down. In fact, if you have a rooster it will rip up all your hens and they will all have bare backs. Some roosters are very mean and will attack you. They crow all the time. TBO, I think they draw in coyotes. If you want chicks you need a rooster to fertilize the eggs and you need sitting and broody hens. Each breed is a little different some hens wont sit on eggs at all.
