Ok so heres what i would do, 1) ditch that heat lamp, its useless 2) wait until she is healthy and hardy to move her, plants need consistency, so once you move her, leave her.. 3) i wouldn't starve a young plant like that for water, i have never heard of drying a plant up to get rid of gnats but then again i have never had gnat problems, so i could be wrong here....

My plant wont grow! It has recently been doing better because I have been putting it out in the sunlight during the daytime. However, alot of the bottom leaves yellowed and fell off is this normal? When will it bud? Someone please help!!!
I am a first-time grower too and I had a similar problem: The bottom leaves just kept dying.

The damage was very small, though, and my plant kept growing strong. So, I just pruned the bottom leaves when it looked like they had no chance of healing.

Since then it's still been growing strong. The bottom leaves don't do well, but that's balanced out by strong growth on top and overall.

The heat lamp is okay just so long as he keeps it at a proper distance and moves it regularly, so he doesn't burn the plants.

Im also getting small brown splotches on the leaves. Also, it is starting to smell skunky, this is good i'm assuming. should I start giving it 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark immediately?

It all dependes on how you growing it, with CFL's you want to flower before they reach 12-14 inchs tall, if your growing under a HID then you can flower as soon as they look ready (ie: preflowers), or you could even force them to flower. If you want you plant to bud then yes giving it 12/12 will make it do so. Keep in mind unless you grew this from a clone you have a 50% chance of this plant being a male and thus producing no buds at all...

Why would u want a heat lamp in your grow room? i have never heard of this... i mean CFL's are cheaper, you can keep then with in an inch of your plant, and they are not made to produce heat like a fucking heat lamp is.... heat lamps are called that for a reason they produce heat, they are not made to have a whole hella of a lot of light output.

Because he already has it, it works, and the only real difference is that he wouldn't have to move the CFLs as often, if ever.

If it's cold indoors, a little bit of heat might also be good for the plant.

whats CFL's and HID? and how do you force them to flower?
They're types of lightbulbs.

CFL = compact fluorescent
HID = high intensity discharge

You force a plant to flower by using light timers to cut down the amount of light from a cycle of 16+ hours of light a day to 12 hours of light a day.

If it's outdoors, you just wait until autumn.

so the sooner i schedule it 12 hour light 12 hour dark the sooner it will bud?
Yes but you need the let it veg so you have flower sites (ie: buds) the longer you veg it (ie: 16+ hours of light) the more growth you will have resulting in more flower sites. So if you flower when you have like only 2 sets of branches you are going to be wasting time waiting for your joint to grow..... catch my drift?
