... help?! I'm a newbie! :)

Hi! I'm new here (and new to growing) and I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I don't have a large crop (4 plants) so I want the smallest, most energy efficient grow room possible. Right now, my freshly sprouted plants reside in a cupboard (I'll have to move them when I transplant them, as 5-gal buckets probably won't fit for long) and I'm using a florescent bulb. My friend said she'd lend me a light she has (one MH bulb, one HPS), but it's 500W and I'm afraid that will either (1) be too much on the electrical bill (I don't know, though... math isn't my thing) or (2) will draw unwanted attention b/c my relative is also growing a crop outside. Anyway, what would be the best thing to do?

Alrighttt alright. Your best bet is to steal your "Relatives" crop. lolll. jk=] Go to Walmart, Look for a HPS I don't know if they have them there, I don't grow indoors im a gorilla grower. But, Walmart should have something. You don't need some 500W shit for 4 plants it's a waste of electricity. If you can't get something you approve of and like, Go to Lowes, Maybe even home depot. Get some nutes while your out, You might want them later in the process. Even though I do NOT use nutes at all in my grow, And my grams go for 20. But I also take very good care of my plants and their a certain type meant for growing in the conditions of where I live. Good luck... And my advise on that 5 gallon bucket shit, Go and get smaller pots. You can get 2 gallons etc. Try to get some horse manure that's what I use every year on my plant and they're some big fucking plants and the buds look amazing.. maybe you don't want horse shit in your house? Just put some dirty over the top.. Eventually the nutes will turn the smell of the horse shit away. you should have a venitilation system leading to a window anyways, just some advice...

Thank you, I think I'll be heading to Lowes tomorrow. Oh, and I already grabbed some 12-12-12 fertilizer... I hope it will be good enough... I thought I might alternate it with bat guano every 2 weeks...

bat poop is the way to go, the 500w light is great, and the outdoor will bring the most unwanted ppl, the indoor will be fine, the power thing it wont be that bad

500w for 4 plants isnt overkill. it sounds just right to me, that it will ensure nice big dense nugs i have no doubt.

i must also add ive never heard of a 500w hps before......

have you talked to the relative about your grow?

I'm probably wrong on the wattage... The person who is going to lend it to me sounded kind of unsure and I don't really trust her memory or her experience that much. I thought I hadn't really noticed that number before when researching... Oh, well, probably close enough, I'll check.

Oh, and yes my relative does know about my grow. He's just not very supportive. I think he expects me to screw it up like I do everything else... I'm interested in gardening as a whole, but what little bit I've tried, I've killed. Except for my faithful cactus. But I suppose a cactus isn't very hard to keep alive...

GROW!!!!!!!!!

99% of the time people get popped is because they run their mouths. If you can keep your mouth shut and pay your electric bill on time you'll be all gravy. And NEVER trust a girlfriend because someday they might be your EX-GIRLFRIEND......

For a grow your size you'd be best going for a 250W HPS. get a florescent light to start them off then move on.

think you need to do a bit of research and preparation, then get going!
