Hey.. I'm in the 5th week of flowering and noticed seeds developing around the lower stems and very little on the tops..
My question is i've only picked 4-6 tiny little pollen sacks/nana's from the lower branches.. I'm not seeing any bunches of "nana's" developing at all only seed pockets. none of the buds have those yellow flowers on them neither!
I know they've been pollenated some how in a room of females but its not showing any of the signs people go on about..Bunches of pollen sacks, yellow flowers, i haven't even found any opened ones!! *hmph* so at what stage am i at; its been well over a week now and i havent noticed any of the above other than the seed pockets mentioned.

Also will my buds still swell up and continue there normal path of growth and pack on weight?

If you didnt find many clusters of male flowers then the pollination shouldnt be that bad. What you described is the typical mild herming, lower shaded budsites that produce small popcorn buds pop out a few male flowers and pollinate enough to grow a few seeds around it.

The buds will continue to grow but as you noticed youll probably have some seeds in it, how many depends on how many male flowers/pollen there was. Not much can be done other than just picking off any male flower clusters you see and be watchful to prevent it from happening in future grows

If they're developing seeds then you must have missed some nanas, or maybe they spilled some pollen when you pinched them off. I'm pretty sure you'll still get plenty of bud if you were gonna anyway, might just be a bit less if they're putting energy into developing seeds as well as bud. Good luck with it :peace:

Okay thats good to know that the plant will still put energy into further growth.. it's a bummer to find that out in the last few weeks.. I'm not sure what to put it down to as i had no light leaks temps were about 25-27 with humidity at late 40s and any defoliating was never too harsh on her so im not sure if its the genetics.
Would sending a seedling at the 4/5th node into 12/12 light cycle influence a hermie plant? because the 3 that got chopped down had the most development of seeds, no signs of nanas though.

Sometimes, shit just happens! It might have been something you did that you didn't realise had stressed the plants or it could be genetics, which seems most likely if you had no obvious stressors. It's just one of those things, all we can do is learn from it. People run seedlings at 12/12 from as soon as they germinate so it seems unlikely that'd cause it to hermie. And it only takes a tiny bit of pollen to pollinate the flowers so it only takes one of those nanas on any plant to spill a bit of pollen and you get seeds. If the pollen gets into the air that's being moved around by a fan then it gets spread everywhere. You're not alone with it man, there's thousands of us on here, might take a while to get a response on a slow day but there's plenty of knowledge to tap, I'm milking it for all it's worth cos I don't think I'd have got my grow to where it is without RIU! :peace:

Yeah im taking it all in as a learning curve.. luckily this is my first grow so hopefully i can learn from this all and rectify it in my next set! clones are well on their way which is a good thing and in a completely different room so they wont be effected... Cleaned out the tent with hydrogen peroxide today and gave it a light bleaching to get rid of any pollen so the last 3 can have a good send off :)
And yeah i can't fault RIU as the community they have helped me out a bunch, only thing is when i upload a thread it hardly gets replies from people willing to help but as you said a bit of searching and poof the answers there!
I'll let you know how things turned out!

It looks like you're at about the same stage as me, if I've counted up right, so I'm right there with you! I've got to this stage by the skin of my teeth and the prospect of anything go wrong now this far into it is such a worry so I'm on here all the time, reading up on every new thing I see with my plants, so feel free to give us a shout if you get stuck with an RIU slow day when you're looking for help, I'm a newb myself but I can help you try to figure out anything that comes up. I'll keep an eye out for pics when you're finished man, hope it all goes well for you and you yield nice rewards :peace:

Yeahh exactly that's what i've been doing as well, prevention is always better than cure in some cases so i try and read up as much as possible so i dont have to tackle these problems at stages like this! lol.. The whole hermie thing at such a late stage took me by storm though lol didnt expect that to happen at all but shows how adaptable and resilient they can be.. you've got some beauties on the go too! bunch of pageant winner's haha stunning girls subbed

Aww thanks dude, I'm pretty chuffed with them but with 4 weeks left I'm getting antsy now that something might go wrong,I just want the first one over with!

Yeah just keep them happy like you've been doing man! great job so far... It's funny this is both our first one, my antsy moment will be the drying process, heard so many bad result as a result of bad curing.. any recommendations on that side of things?

The guy we got our clones from, grows the exact same plants as me, and his weed is awful so that had me worried for a while. After discreetly quizzing him I've figured out that it is definitely his techniques fucking up the weed rather than the plant having terrible potential, thankfully! So my main aim is to do everything different to him! He chops them down early cos he's paranoid about smell, then he dries it on a net but, the way he describes it with the heater and that, he might as well put them in the oven! So my plan is just to do a light trim and hang them until they dry naturally, I think we're gonna hang them in the grow room as it's reasonably dark as the grow area is sealed off but it's slightly above room temperature and has great air flow, and I'm just going to be really patient until they dry properly and then finish trimming. Although trimming it is supposed to be easier if you do it wet apparently, but then some people say drying the whole plant improves the flavour, so I'm not quite sure about it yet. I also quite like the idea of just harvesting the tops and letting the bottom develop a bit longer with unrestricted access to the light. So many options!
I'm definitely getting some mason jars to cure what we keep for ourselves, as far as I can tell that's just a case of jarring it up once it's dry and then burping the jar everyday and letting the moisture out until it stops sweating. I can't wait to have my own stash jars, neatly labelled with the strain and harvest date. I put my cheeses into flower the other day and I've just popped 2 Heisenberg Specials so another few months and hopefully I'll have plenty to choose from. The HS are autos too so that's gonna be a whole new learning curve for me :bigjoint:

I see no problem trimming wet as long as the drying area is set up properly so they dont dry out too fast. 5-7 days for drying is my goal nice slow and even.

Yeah, I'm putting a week aside for drying, I've waited this long so there's no point rushing the job now! Also, the weed I've been buying the last few weeks is damp and really badly manicured, just full of stalks, I'd be ashamed to be associated with shit like that so I want it all done right, even if it means waiting a little bit longer.

Yeah we're basically doing the same thing, mine is a 9-10 weeker so im going to try pushing her into 11 depending how things look.. And also the whole heater/oven thing i kind of get.. depending on what your temps are like if its too cold the bud will dry out quicker than it should not giving the chlorophyll enough time to escape the plant.. luckily for me temp inside are usually around 20-25 and RH between 40-58%.. Also this week i've stopped feeding N so the leaves start to yellow, stressing them of N is a good pre flush as they'll draw more chlorophyll from the remainder of the leaves.. These are all the things im considering and doing to ensure the bud tastes at its full potential .. and you've hit the nail on the head with regards to waiting soooo long at this point theres no reason to rush anything

Don't get me wrong, I can see that sometimes a heater might be necessary but I just think he overdoes it so the nuggs are crispy on the outside and damp in the middle with no smell left on them, like they've been roasted. Although to be fair, I'm smoking his weed now and it is a nice stoned feeling, not very potent but good for a light daytime smoke.
I'm still fighting the yellowing! I know it's natural and meant to happen but I still feel like it's too early to let them go hungry! They're on a lower dose of their normal feed though, plus some Advanced Nutrients booster. I was using Big Bud but I've changed to Overdrive now for the last few weeks before I stop adding nutrients. They've stopped growing taller completely this last week and are just fattening up nicely. It sounds like you've got it sussed anyway. Are you still finding lots of seeds in your buds?

How bad is your yellowing then? you've probably read online about its uses but Molasses is very effective, similar to what bud candy would do without the heavy price and plus keeps al those microbes happy! :D
Well the 3 that i chopped were dry on the stem today so i've put them into jars and taken off remaining leaves.. i must say the smell is amazing for such a young cut, covered in crystal and was a really enjoyable daytime smoke.. as far as seed i've found well over 100 in what i've gone through which is pretty insane off 3 plants!.. i kinda wish i saved one to let them develop more but space wont allow me to do such experiments (n) I started a PK 13-14 today, only gonna do it for about 3/4 feedings and then week n half flush depending on yellowing.. I really hope the others aren't effected in such a way though id prefer to smoke it rather than bubble hash/ rosin/ budder the herb

My yellowing really isn't that bad yet, the odd bottom leaf seems to turn when I'm not looking. Maybe it's time to stop fighting it now. I actually tried molasses a few weeks ago, read loads about it and figured it's just a massive carbo-load so I'd give it a try but the only effects I got was fur on my coco! I don't know but I'm guessing most of the microbes are pretty much dead with all the synthetic nutes and couldn't eat the through the molasses and break it down before it went gross. I'm just guessing though, I don't know, but I don't think I'd dare try it again.
Glad you got some good smoke though man, think I'd have wanted to pop some of those seeds if it were me, even if they are hermies you might have got something awesome from them! I guess space is the eternal constraint, I will never again let my flower room get so full, it's a nightmare hand watering them as they get bigger with 11 in there!
I'm dying to have a go at making hash and rosin, can't wait until I've loads of trim to play with. I want to do some baking with it too :weed:

Haha!! duuuuuude!! that fur is the best thing.. as im using soil i added various organic compounds to boost nutrients throughout the cycle, theres fish, blood, bone, kelp and bat guano all mixed in different sizes which i leave to sit for about a week or so to allow the soil to draw from the compounds and if i check a week later and theres "fur" also known as soil web it means your soil/microbes are happy ensuring that your plant is happy, molasses is just like drinking coffee for humans but for over 10 different microbes in the soil.. Trust me years ago when i first saw it i almost threw the soil away but after reading/experimenting and finding out things i realised thats its not a problem.. even my seedlings go in soil with some fur/soil web and they're never effected.
haha yeah the hash making is lots of fun, i love doing bubble hash man :) smiles all day
