Help!! Fan leaves started turning yellow and then leaf stems turned red/purple. Main stem also.

Sounds like low Mg. Hard to tell without pics and info about growing conditions, grow media, nutes etc.

A little Epsom Salts from the drug store will fix it up if it is and supply some sulfur to boost resin production as well. tsp/L/qt could fix it up and certainly won't hurt.

Good luck.

Are they in the flowering stage? And it's very possible the red/purple stem is just the plant genetics.
Yes I thought that. They are about 6 weeks into flowering. The lower fan leaves started turning yellow first then the coloring started. Some said the leaves at the end of flowering turns purple but u haven’t seen that yet.

Are the yellowing leaves soft and supple or hard and crispy? Normal yellowing is soft as the plant starts drawing mobile nutes from it's oldest leaves first. Hard and crispy is toxic salts buildup and you don't want that.

Genetics plays a big roll in the colouring of plants as they near their end. Think maple trees in the fall. These are the most colourful plants I've ever grown. OG#18 that I harvested last June. Glad I got a cutting to grow more as I find it's my go-to toke in the evenings when I want a pleasant but not overwhelming buzz for sitting in front of the idiot box. :)

Yes very much soft. Some get brown spots before pick them but I think adding nutes helped. Some reviews said leaves turn purple so I guess stem turning makes sense.

Lots of strains get purple in them and there's nothing wrong with the plant. These BlueBerries I'm growing are showing lots of purple in the older leaves and stems with even new leaves having purple stems right away.

The purple is much more visible in this one in person but you can see it in the lower leaves here. 6 weeks old.

oldmeduser knows his stuff so listen up..
Thanks for that and may I say you have a beautiful avatar. :)

I'm a compulsive reader and a compulsive grower of decent pot so I've spent a lot of time compulsively growing pot and compulsively reading about growing pot. Some stuff is bound to be absorbed. :D

A very Merry Xmas to you and yours! xmastree.gif

If they're getting close to the end I wouldn't give them more nutes especially not N. I will stunt flowering late in the game. The leaves are turning yellow as part of nature's plan and some strains start that earlier than others. A little extra S and K is good for the buds and resin but just a little.

Merry Xmas to you too! reindeer.gif
