running about a 30gallon res. dwc 4 net pots with hydroton.. res ph'd perfect..seedlings in rockwool in the system already, they are getting water fine and are growing fine. waiting on the roots to reach the res. im running tap water with botanicare pure blend pro nutes. The bottle says they are organic. I was reading up and I am sure they are bio-organic. Now the prob is, my res started to smell and there is foam floating and a bit cloudy water.. Is this normal for organic based dwc runs?? Im going to do a res swap and see if that helps. Please help much appreciated!!

i got an email from general hydro on their organic line and they said not to use it in dwc because of foaming and that it will ferment. they said they`ve heard of people using it with varying results and that they don`t recomend them. i know it`s not what you`re using but it`s the same thing only different.

oh i should add that i had alot of ph drift with the organic line too. it was working but the foam and the drift was a pain in the ass and the bucket gets pretty nasty

I wouldnt try running organics in dwc. I never have so I wouldnt know from experience.... but ive heard nothing about it except how the res water just turns into a vile soup of living shit.

That said im sure someone will pop in now saying they run organic dwc just fine.... just sayin I wouldnt fuck with it for the same reasons your habing probs now.

i have a buddy using it and he swears by it. he`s having the same issues i was but thinks it`s great because of the faster growth. i should add that he is a dirt bagger and on his first dwc and is only trying one plant. i told him it was growing like that because of the dwc not the food. they can preach all they want on how good it works but i`m not trying it again!

A lot of people take the term "organic" a different way. Nutes can be derived from organic sources, but not be organic. I think if a nutrient doesn't need living soil to break it down, doesn't smell bad, or doesn't go bad quick, shouldn't be considered organic. Even though anything with a carbon atom can be technically considered organic. True organic shit besides humic/fulvic acid should be kept away from hydroponics. Buckets of water and decaying matter don't mix.
