looks like over watering. let that soil get good and dry before watering. 18 hr light min. if cfl's get them close 2" away at the most. use a small fan so the plants just move a little.

If low watt cfl's no more then ---------------------- that far. higher watt move away a little more. I use 100w cfl's and set them 3-4" off the top.

thanks im using 40w lights, i didnt want to place em to close to the light because i thought that they would hinder growth

I have some 42w so long as they don't thouch the bulb have had no problems. lol but they grow fast sometimes and get up into the bulb. Then they get a little burn. this is the 100wx2 and a 40w flour tube.
