Help design my CFL grow!

Hi everyone, I'm looking into setting up my first grow and need input from a few people who actually know what they're doing!

My space is 7.5' tall x 5' wide x 16" deep, it has two outlets, two water spigots, and a little circular vent that goes directly outside on the bottom of the right hand wall. 2.5 feet from the ceiling there is a shelf that runs along the whole width of the space. It also has a nice little bar under it I plan to use for hanging lights.

I have decided to limit myself to CFLs only for this grow, as it is my first and I will likely be gone for up to a week at a time with nobody to tend to it. More on that later.

For watering, I am toying with the idea of putting a big cooler on top of the shelf and concocting a drip system using vinyl hosing and a small valve to feed out the right amount of water. I could fill it using the aforementioned water spigots every few days and control the water's ph and whatnot from the cooler.

Also, this would be a soil grow of no more than four plants.

The main issue I have right now is that I will be gone for rather long stretches and am not sure how everything will work in my absence, particularly the adjusting of the lights. Any ideas concerning this are more than welcome! My best ideas for addressing this concern are as follows:

1. Use SCROG or LST to stop the plants from getting too tall or too close to the lights.

2. Grow a shorter strain(I kind of wanted to grow indica anyway).

3. Use some type of vertical lighting arrangement so the plants get light no matter how tall or short they are.

Please feel free to point out any flaws or ask any questions about my ideas here, I can definitely use the feedback, thanks!
