Help deciding on leds

How are those COBs on durability? I've looked at them a while back and thought of trying them. I know some brands like Apollo were having issues with them dying out after months of use. Thinking of trying a reputable brand out sometime.
Depending on the temps you run them at but 50k-100k hours by the book. But we shall see. Very little loss at 10k hours. Like 1%

Says another without evidence.

The price is the only crap part. https://www.kindledgrowlights.com/products/k5-xl1000 I went with a couple of these. Like all older LEDs they lack coverage compared to a HPS. Otherwise it performs great. I really like the customization. I'll compare one to a COB as soon as I decide which brand to go with. Also would even like to test out a plasma light. I really don't care about the price as long as they perform well and last a long time.
Kind is crap

Just search kind threads on this forum and see all of the poor reviews. Other grower forums that are sponsored by a shit light company warn forum members and ban them if they talk bad about paying companies.

Lol, sorry I didn't get here sooner. Now my experience may have been different than most but take the time to read through that thread first.

Something I notice happening here is people that know little about lights come here for advice and DIY seems to be the only answer. The same thoughts ran through my head, why would I do DIY or buy some ugly ass premade panel when kind has been around for years, specs, claims, fancy adds and my favorite remote controlled. The difference as stated in the kind k5 experience thread is kind runs at 22.5% efficiency. 149 par watts from 678 wall watts.
Most of these cob lights are 50-55-% efficient. So for 300 wall watts you can have the same par as kind. Plants don't care about claims, fancy paint, or a remote.

I finally got my shit together and picked up 3 Amare se-450's. Growth is amazing, heat, and energy used is cut in half. No issues at all and even get emails from the owner asking about my progress. With kind I had to fight for 2 months to get some of my money back.

It's your money, u can burn it or use it on lights that work.

The price, the quality, the efficiency, those are what's crap about the kinds. Pretty much a total damn fail... Hell cheap t5's from Amazon are more efficient. There is evidence all over this forum, it's OK I understand. You payed a shit ton for these POS lights and now you feel obligated to defend them. Believe me I've seen it before... But you would do well to listen to these warnings, and learn a few things about lighting in the process.

I prefer bridgelux products as well, vero 29 with 5 cobs mounted on Alpine 11 driven by hlg-186-1050b with a Gibson pot because it's so smooth

I'm thrilled you didn't end up with kind. Bunch of trash! Timber is the best choice for efficiency and cost man.
right on thanks! Glad I made a good choice.

Ya I talked to one of the owners dan, and he explained everything to me about COB lights and how they work. Was the best customer service I think I've ever received. Highly recommended!

30-35 (auctual wall) watts per sqft of quality led will get you killer results. So at 10x10 (100 sq ft) grow space you will need 3000-3500w of led.

That's some cash, you could run less and upgrade as time progressed or maybe just do half led / half hid till you had proper funds.

That would be a cool side by side for judging the difference.

COBs are the best right now.

FWIW:

I own a Kind K3 L600. It works. It grows pot and does fairly decent job of it. It's not the best, but it's decent. Is it worth the money? Probably not. It seems like the problems are with the K5 models. My K3 has not suffered any emitters failing, or fans failing. The light works.

That being said, my Timber CXB200s and my Northern Grow Lights Photon 180V out perform it, hands down. Thicker stems, better leaf structure, better node growth, and dense flower growth. Probably 30-40% better looking/feeling plants than the Kind. I will be replacing the K3 at some point with an NGL Photon with the hot Citizen COBs in the near future.

Has anyone heard of any success from the g8 LEDs? They look pretty decent and are pretty affordable, or should that be a concern? They advertise in HT and I feel like I should be able to trust them.
