ok..im having some problems here.
im setting up my grow tent,a Secret Jardin Dark room pro DR120 II.it measures 4' x 4' x 6.5'.
heres what ill be using,i say (be) cause its what i bought and dont plan on returning a thing.i would use a 5x5 but dont have the room right now. i also want to keep everything but the ballast inside the tent
-lumatek 1000w dial a watt
-magnum xxxl 6in hood
-vortex 6in fan
-6in x 20in phat filter = 450cfm...

i cant seem to figure out how i want to place the vortex fan and filter.the xxxl hood is big but not to big were it leaves me with no room what so ever. the tent is located in a corner blocking the left side of the tent, leaving me with only the 3 ports on the right, one on the top side, top of roof and bottom for intake..i can work with those!

beeing the size of the tent and wattage ill be using, could i leave the hood fixed were it wont move up or down the tent with out loosing any advantage over the 1000w. i figured if i leave the fan connected straight to the hood and into the tent port i could get by and not have to use a second fan just for the filter. thats going to be to much weight on the tent? i will have to move the hood a lil higher to line up with the vent port

i have included pics, pls do give opinions and keep it straight to the subject.:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

Why would you want to move a 1000w light anyways? leave it fixed. Buy an 8inch crappy inline booster fan for 50$ and put it on the left side of the hood. Let it pull air from one side of the vent and push it to the other. This way, the heat is always outside the tent. Put your fan and filter exhausting outside. The natural intake of the tent will take care of your intake, you should have negative preassure anyways.

Or you could even put the 8inch booster fan on the right side of the tent, and push it towards the window, and you can have the exhaust of the tent going out the window as well, it will keep your odor problem at bay

im low on funds and all i have is 2 6in vortex fans. what i meant by moving the light was doing so to get it closer to the plants, pretty much starting from the bottom and moving it up as they grow.
the left side of the tent is blocked, all i have to work with are 3 ports and there on the right side of the tent..i also want to keep every thing but the ballast inside the tent.

filter on floor in corner, vent up to light with an elbow. put fan on other end of reflector so it pulls the air out which is more efficient.

Change that, filter on the floor outside of the tent sucking air out of tent through filter. Will give you more room inside. For the second 6inch fan, put it at the right side of hood, sucking air from the left (blocked) side, through the fan, through the hood, and out the right side (unblocked side) back into the room. You should put the filter outside though if you have room outside.

i forgot to mention that ill be growing 10 lsd plants so the filter on the floor will not work, good idea tho,thanks!..
i been reading other threads on dif sites..one kat sayd that based on his experience you get cooler tent by using two seperate fans, one for filter and other for hood. i thought bout that but im worried that the tent wont hold up with the xxxl, filter and two vortex fans. that idea will work great,i could move the tent further more to line the hood intake up with the window thus sucking up cold air from the outside, wich is in the low 60s high 50s. my guess that will cool the light big time! i dont have alot of room outside..im on crutches and need all the sapce i can take to move around while the grow is on.

Yep that will cool the light, but if it is increadibly humid outdoors (aka rain) the water may enter the 1000w light and blow up your light. Those bulbs get very hot and even the smallest water molecule can make the entire thing explode. Also, why can you not put the filter outside the tent? not inside, outside next to a vent hole, and have the fan sucking into the filter out of your tent? That way, you dont have to hang it. If you try and hang it and it snaps, thats more quid down the drain.

ooops.you ment ouside the tent..lol..
does the filter outside the tent effect it performance in any way..im thinking bout it. im sure i could make some room for it behind the tent

No at all, do you have odor issues? If you do, suck air out the tent and through the filter, if you don't, suck the air through the filter and into the tent.

no odor issues yet,tho ive read lsd stinks so better now then never. ive actually set up the stuff inside aready..ill post pics in a minute...thanks brokenturtle..
i did leave the light on last night with no fan and it reached 99 degrees..of course it wasnt the usual low 60s high 50s..might consider buying one of those heat shields

Hold up, 99 degrees? Did you not run your fans? If you open that window right next to the tent you can control heat much better. I'm growing LSD as well right now, got 2 in the veg and one a clone. Ill be flowering them in a few weeks, they are in my signature link.

yup..99 degrees..i dint run the fan tho. good thing i havent started growing yet...im still fine tuning my tent..im still working on a way to raise the hood higher to give me more space,i have that figured out just have to head out to the shop and make the parts..shop,more like back yard...lol .
im going to move my tent away from the wall to give me some space between the intake and the window, thus giving me much more cooler air...im going to check out your grow in a minute..i heard lsd streaches alot during bloom,is that correct? ive also heard it like to eat alot, really hungry bitch

place your 6" vortex on the top/ceiling of tent. there should be a vent opening on the top, just set the fan on top with ducting going both ways. super easy. the tents are actually made for the fans to sit that way. never had a problem with mine set up that way. I actually have my carbon filter inside the tent, which has ducting connected to the reflector, which then has ducting connected to the 6" inline fan, which leads to outside for exhaust. my carbon filter cleans all the air in the tent before escaping, as well as air cooling the hood.

322, unsung has a point. You should do filter > hood > fan sucking air out. This way you can have straight ducting. A carbon filter cuts down 20% of cfm, and each bend of the ducting cuts down even more. Do as straight of ducting as you can.
