I have centeral heat&ac,I installed ac vent in ceiling and ran the insulated flex duct to it.one & half sheets of plywood and 4-2x4x8.I took down the bifold doors and put then away.2x2 frame around the door opening right next to the bifold door track.two 2x2s fram the door jam.two 14" picse of ply on both sides and the ply door with 2 dark room vents in the door.I exhaust out in the attic. Now all that humitiy in the attic is pulled out the gable vent of the house with a attic fan.Closet is 2'wide by 8' long by 8' high. One fan running in the closet and a 200cfm fan pulling air through the light. The closet stays at 77 to 83 degrees.Air cooled lights and vents are the keys to cooler closets. There my 2 cents.PEACE

dude just cause its a closet doesnt mean you can let the air stand still. even with cfls that need to venting(for heat) your plants still need fresh air. heres what i did years ago. hang 2 pieces of black and white poly over the door frame with the door open. cut fan holes, one in the top, one in the bottom(exhaust and intake). that way you cont have to cut holes in your door. when the lights on, open the door, turn the exhaust and intake fans on(could be house fans whatever u find), and then when your lights turn off, turn the fans off and close the door. be creative, these people here were just giving you examples so YOU could work with them.

Get out your ladder, sawsall, drill and 1 inch bit, roofing nails, caulk.

Go buy:
6 inch dryer vent with a pressured flap
100+cfm fan
Get a carbon filter or something too.
6 inch high heat duct.

Start cutting holes, mount and flash the dryer vent on the roof. Wire everything and hook it up. Don't just circulate hot air around in your growroom, you have to get it out of there.

I have a 250 watt conversion ballast which sucks. Im going off of hps/mh and getting a 6 lamp t-5 setup with both spec tubes and NEVER worry about heat or plant burn or spending too mch cash

to the original poster/threadstarter.

your problem is simple! all you need to do is cooltube your light and exhaust the air into the space above your closet, just cut a hole going into the ceiling! it's easy to do and easy to repair when you move or whatever.

you can get a cooltube reflector for about 80 bucks or so or you can make one for about 10 bucks if you are a do it yourselfer.

and to the last poster who was thinking about switching to fluoro's. i think it's a bad idea, you aren't going to get those big dense quality buds with fluoros you can get close but it's just not quite the same and it requires you to CONSTANTLY (2x a day) move lights and position them around the plant strategically.

i recently switched from CFL's to HPS (just a lil 150 watter for a grow cab) it's so much better, yeah it's hotter for sure but with the cfl's it was such a pain in the ass trying to keep the lights close enough to produce quality growth but at the same time not burn the leaves or heat stress them as they grew into the lights.

everyone loves CFL i dont know why, but god damn if i could squeeze a kilowatt HID in my grow cab i would!

I'm in an apt. and my ceiling and floors are cement! great for dampening smells and sound but not for cutting vent holes! I think with that being the main factor T-5's would serve my needs. Gotta grow within your means I think. but my little fem plant is making fantastic progress even with the heat so Im rooting for her!
