Have you ever put flowering plant back into veg?

Ok so I have saved a few plants from a bad home. These are flowering and have been for around 20 days. They are very short and need to be revegged for a while to get tall enough to be worth finishing. I have never reverted back to veg before. Although I have had outside plants start to flower and then due to natural light conditions start to veg again.

Questions...

if these start to veg again how long will it take to change from flower back to veg?

if they do start to veg will they stretch again down the road when back on 12/12. I figure since I have the extra room ill give it a shot. Right now these girls are under 10 inches and fully out of the stretch. I got them under a 600w at 18/6.

Any opinions on this? I will post my results as they come. This should be interesting to say the least.

But hey...ill give it a shot.

If you're just trying to veg a few more inches out of them don't waste your time. I've done it before when I forget to reset my timers after a previous grow. It took a couple weeks just to kick back into some real vegetative growth, and pushed out some crazy mutant leaves in the process. Unless you're trying to at least double the size of them I wouldn't even waste my time. If you think its really worth it I'd put them on a 24/0 or 20/4 photoperiod To kick them back in the veg faster.

If you leave the lights off for 24 hours before hand, it should help them revert to veg quicker, at least that's been my experience. I'd also agree with Huel about the 24/0 veg period. Be prepared for a lot of weird branches and leaves, you'll have to do a lot of cleaning up on the bottom.

Could take a few weeks to see any decent growth.

I believe I have stumbled upon a quicker, cleaner, method of re-Veg from flowering plant.
In the photos below is a chronological order of a 'clone' I attempted from a flowering mom.

This cloner was a real hack job I threw together and was not right when I used it;
so after a couple weeks in there with only stubs to show for it, I decided to plant the clone as is.
After maybe 10 days the transplanted clone was really struggling to feed the top.

I decided the best chance at survival was to remove as much of the top stuff as possible.
So I sliced it down to what you see in the 2nd photo.

The remaining photos show a rapid recovery with vegetative growth over a period of 10 days.
The final photo is the mom it came from further along in flower.

In conclusion I think reducing the plant matter that has to revert back to vegetative state speeds up the process dramatically.
It is also a very good way to rescue clones that are not rooting in EZ-Cloner type setup.
All you need to get them going in dirt is a few nubs if you baby it and the Gods are with you.

I am thinking like Marty , the tips of a plant at 21 days in are hormone induced at this point and reversal will be very slow and possibly messy as mentioned . I would cut all tips back that have begun to flower as those will explode with scraggly branches initially and usually they grow retarded and mutated until fully reversed . By cutting out flowers you will be able to reveg the lower nodes in a much more productive manner .

As mentioned above , 24/0 light schedule and be generous with the Nitrogen the first few weeks I like 20-10-10 or 20-20-20 for this purpose .. I used to reveg garden after garden and the bigger the buds the worse the reveg imho .

22 days since last images and this reveg is going very well.
I could take a couple clones now no problem.

The plant is about 7 or 8 inches tall now with two main shoots.

all the above...

I'm a seasoned re-vegger. cut back the plant removing as much bud(ish) as possible while leaving the leaf. flush. dark period 24-48 hours. back on veg nutes and light

hey homeless, why the 24-48 darkness? seems it would just stress the plant more, once back on 24 hr. light.
my main veg room is 18/6.

I am not a horticulturist. But the way I see it revegging is a survival trait similar to hermis. The plant is trying to survive in some form.

the dark period seems to trigger a faster change from flower to veg and vise versa. scares her maybe?

like MISSPHOBE said it works. we regularly cut and flipped whole rooms an average of 3 times per plant.. 100% is kinda a must that way of growing

yeah everything every one here is saying makes full sense, but i have done this due to the same reason well into flower..., first you need to slam them into 24 hour light for at least 48 hours, then you need to trim off every bud with the precision of a surgeon, keep them on 24 7 and any further flower type growth needs cutting out and super cropping and tipping all helps to force them back to veg mode... in short you will finish up with massive chunky colas, but the time and effort invested is well worth the return x

Years of growing medical mmj in Seattle/Tacoma, experimenting, and spending over $5k in professional setup and supplies!
I finally figured out how to grow low cost with success.

I'm going to toss all my plants back to veg, when they finished flowering from 12/12 to 18/6, and grow them 2 weeks in 18/6 before cropping them. I want to let keep them reveg for 4-6wks before flowering them again. I saw more immature buds growing from the bottom during the first week and after the 2nd week is when new small leave starts shooting out of the buds. I plan to crop almost everything off the plants, before new leaves starts shooting out of the buds, and just leaving the last node on a bud from each branch that I want to keep. New shoots will start growing from that tiny piece of bud left on there. I've already tried cropping after reveg for 2 weeks with some top shelf buds left on there. It made the nodes on the buds spread a little bit more and made the bud fluffier instead of being dense. The plant kept growing with no more thc production after a week, when new leaves shoots out there is no crystals on it. I didn't taste any difference in the quality of the bud except it was fluffier and you can smell it better after drying it.

Oh one important thing, I am growing "vegan organic" with Growers Gold indoor mix from Home Depot and homemade vegetable tea 7-1-4 that I make daily with my homemade 1605w LED lights setup. I have cut my cost down to $350 for building the 3 x 535w led lights, 3x3x3 & 3x3x5 panda film tent on 3/4" pvc frame, and 30 cents to make 6 gallons of veggie tea to feed them every other day. That's $4.5 a month on fertilizer and I get to drink the tea that I make for them but more concentrated lol. I turn 1 quart into 6 gallons. I don't need to flush my plants, there is no nutes in it. No snap, crackle, and pop when blazing up the buds at all. This is how I got away from flushing and killing my plants like before. I've only started growing vegan organic about 2 months ago, the bud taste sweeter, and the plant grew way better. I didn't even need to switch fertilizer from veg to flower. It's the same veggie tea I make for them daily, just more concentrated during flowering.

I will never use nutes again. It beats making more clones and killing my flowering plants. It takes 3-7 days to make clones and another 7-10 days to baby it. That's at least 2-3 weeks wasted to make a 6-10" baby plants and another 6-8wks for the stems and roots to get big. The way I'm growing now will save money and make my plant bigger each time I reveg, meaning more buds each time I crop. I've already made seeds, so my next mission is to see how many times I can reveg my plants before the quality goes down by growing vegan organic. Normally growers will switch mother plants after 1.5-2 years when they decrease in potency, I am hoping it's the same with F1 clones, and forget the mother plant lol. I will be able to reveg and crop each plant 3-5 times per year depending on the strains.

Also I did tried breeding a fully flowered plant just before putting them back into vegging. I was hoping to create seeds in veg but no success, the hairs stayed white. Next time I will try breeding 2-3 weeks before revegging.

The photo of the Indica is GSC male x Cannatonic = Girl Scout Tonic
The Sativa is Kali Mist male x Harlequin growing too tall, had to super crop it first 3 weeks into flowering.
The photo of the 3 nugs is GSC x Cannatonic cropped after flowering.
The photo with 2 nugs is GSC x Cannatonic cropped after 2 weeks into revegging.
The photo of reveg is GSC x Cannatonic is about 17-20 days into revegging a few days after I cropped it.
The LED's are 8020 ,7020 in the center and 5630, 5730 on the sides.

Long shitty process. I'm about to go through it again myself. You literally need to throw the plant back in your veg room and forget about it for about the length of another harvest.
Gladstoned It doesn't take long to reveg 4-8wks depending on the strain and I will flower them once they grow 6-8" on each branch. They will keep growing tall for the first 3 weeks and once budding starts they stop growing tall. It's not that long, you just need to know what you are doing. Have you looked at my photo of my plant in reveg for 17-20 days that photo was taken on 2/17/15. I cropped it a few days before the photo was taken, by tossing a fully flowered plant back into vegging for a test run and see what it can do. I will post up new photos in a few weeks on my grow. I killed 10/15 plants when cropping. But I figured out what to do and have weed to smoke lol....

If you try to reveg after you've started the plants flowering then the sheriffs will come and take your children. If you don't have children in the house then go ahead and do it.
CC Dobbs I'm over here in Seattle/Tacoma where the weed is legal and mmj prescription only cost $100 per year and $50-75 to renew after. I can have 24oz on me and it's legal lol. Making clones and restocking my grow takes more time and effort. I want to keep it as simple as possible, less headache to deal with... Wintertime making clones here takes twice as long to root without a heating pad. Cloning isn't simple or hard, just lots of time spent getting good roots lol... It takes too long to have the clones fully rooted for flowering. And think about the dirt you have to deal with each time you kill a plant. It's a mess dealing with it when I live in a 525sf 1 bedroom apt in downtown lol.

I just harvested my GG4 and I left a node or two on one plant and put it back under 18/6. We'll see what happens I guess...

I already have one clone of GG4 that is revegging and throwing out non-serrated leaf sets, I'm curious as to how long it'll take the second one to revert.

Has anyone here revegged GG4? If so, did it maintain it's vigor?

She keeps her vigor. She should start throwing true leaves soon. Trim off any old stuf when she is does.

She's taken off like a bat outta hell. Still funky leaves and wow a lot of branching coming off of that budsite too...

By old stuff do you mean old bud? It was barely into flower so there's not much to trim...

Thanks NN, stay well.

You can do as you mentioned or even use "flower light" at 12/12 thru grow start to finish - it makes an interesting grow with average yields and short to medium plant
