I'm in the same boat you are 6oh. Stupid docs won't hardly listen to me. Got all fuckered up in Iraq and my back made of metal. Can't hardly stand to be at work. Finally got doc to send me to pain management clinic and they put me on anti freak in depressants and said come back in 4 weeks. Nothing but pain pills ever helps me and they won't give me any. Second surgery soon its lookin like.
Dont take methadone if they offer you it. Itll help at first but leave you addicted.

Agreed. I don't see why they would give that to me though. They have to give me everything else before narcotics and I'm going on three years of trying everything else and I am just getting worse. It is aggregating as hell. I have been approved for forty hours a week at work but have been only able to withstand about 25-30. Arg!

I live with pain. Its hard to manage but I do it because the alternative is pretty bleak. Fortunetly I have a doctor who in simpathetic and prescribes me methadone which works pretty well. There are zero side effects and out of all the opiates I've ever taken this one seems to be the least problematic.
Its all about doing what you have to to get through the day. Don't compare your pain to anyone else's. Its a very personal experience. And don't tell anyone what you take for it bc they judge you. I hate that.

8 titanium screws in my side, severe nerve damage from my chest down, "fragments" in my lower back that havent been taken out about 3-4 times yearly decide to aggravate the lower part of my back that controls peeing, moving my arms and legs, oh and being able to stop hyperventilating from the uncomfortable(my new term for pain) bullshit. I can relate. Have a new issue now that seems to love making my balls, lower stomach ache incessantly. this one a may not get rid of either...... a vet buddy gave me this....ma's oil 002.JPGseemed to work pretty well, but to be honest nothing takes my pain away like super strong edibles koala.jpgSuper relief! I'd seriously do just about anything to feel that once a week lol.

@6ohMax, can't remember everything from this thread, do the docs have you on any kind of pain meds? Narcotic wise? Non narcotic wise I would suggest asking about meloxicam/mobic. Its a powerful nsaid that helps me out. Usually high dose nsaids kill my stomach but I've been on mobic since Feb w/o any problems.
Possible L&I claim or state disability but takes forever to get. What about asking your boss for more of a managerial position where you don't have to wrench as much? Parts and inventory and ordering position. Assuming you have been there a while and are liked, I would disclose your pain issues and let him know you are actively trying to get it taken care of. Try wearing a wrist brace. Good luck. I was heavy diesel mech in the army and can't imagine doing it now. You are a bad ass!

Yo dude I have topicals and tinctures to gift you...just gotta swing by and get em. They help really well the 1st week (the topical anyways) just like anything else you build a tolerance if use all the time. So set an appointment with Dr. Dia will get you feeling better soon and I'll give you details on dosage and uses. Those 2 items I gift, I never charge for those

@6ohMax hope you've had a decent couple of days. I woke up today and could barely walk. Wife took me to the ER and they shot me up with Valium and dilaudid and sent me home with some 5's and I actually had a decent day at work. Frustrating that that's what it takes for me to work properly.

@VTMi'kmaq cant see those pics or whatever it is that's helped you. Any advice on pain control or how to get docs to actually help me? I feel for you bro.

Max,
Have you tried acupuncture? Also a good epsom salt bath does some good. A hot tub with jets is awesome. Maybe worth a shot. I tried acupuncture and it was really relaxing and eased my muscles.

Cyclobenzaprine does work fairly well, gives me super bad dry mouth. I was on it for four years and it cost be ten grand in dental bills from the dry mouth rotting my teeth out. Naproxin is OK, hurts my stomach, which is why I take the meloxican which I highly recommend over naproxin/ibuprofen. Not sure if I've taken that other one u mentioned.

Hey, look you need to slow your roll. Take time, heal. Money is not everything.

You have skills, boss seems to like you, maybe it's time to step up to foreman or supervisor. It would be easier on your back.

yeah back when i was younger working shit jobs. massive migraines and back aches. now my job my boss tells me to go home if im in pain. he doesnt like his employees being at work sick or in pain. if you're in enough pain you can have mri or whatever testing you need done and get disability. i know several ppl that do it from legitimate pain. sometimes it takes a while is the problem. you have to find a good dr and be cooperative also. it's not always easy for doctors to pin point something and can be frustrating. from my experience pills do way more good than harm when used properly. the risks are usually overrated with some exceptions. going off them is much easier than people think if you don't let it become a habit that controls you and go off very slowly with regular dr checkups. i've been on and off quite a few different meds. some people need to take painkillers everyday to be able to function properly at work. not all of them are junkies. when you take them everyday for pain like you're supposed to you dont really get the euphoria. also different pain meds for different types of pains. drs know best. narcotics are not always the best choice but sometimes are needed.

Kidney stone pain has been about the worst I've had. Nothing but constant injections of Morhpine helped. I've also had 2 failed back surgeries which left me with severe nerve damage in my left leg- my calf muscle has all but disappeared. Can only stay up on my feet for about 15 min. max, with severe pain. Docs just kept throwing narcotics at me for years. They give alittle relief at first then I end up having the increase the doses to ridiculous amounts, then the side effects begin to make them unbearable. Methadone for me helped at first then after about 3 yrs the side effects drove me nuts. I've got a medicine cabinet that looks like a pharmacy. I ended up stopping all narcotics a couple yrs ago - still in constant pain but I live through it. I still take narcotics when the pain is absolutely unbearable but never consistently enough to become dependant again. Seen 5 specialist, all said the only thing they could do was surgery, and they said 50/50 if it would help. I don't trust docs anymore ( they are what intensified my situation in the first place) so for the time being I'm refusing any and all surgeries. CHRONIC PAIN IS A BITCH!

Ive taken more dilaudid, hydromorphone, percs, dope you name it ive taken it if it helped me NOT FEEL PAIN, pain makes me go from a calm loving man to a not thinking ,punch you in the teeth asshole, so it's imperative for me that i maintain pain control. The tube was filled with strong simpson oil. He said two rice grain sized doses get him right and he out weighs me by 50 pounds! I have a miserable tolerance tho.........i can eat a pea-to skittle sized dose and function. After i'm done with my cirrent grow im gonnastart playing with some tinctures.
