Canadians should expect a long list of cannabis-infused edibles, concentrates and other products to hit store shelves in the coming months, which will significantly expand the scope of the legal marijuana market, according to sources directly familiar with the matter.

The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) seeks to add as many as 17 new product types to its sales catalogue when the items become legal in Canada, according to a list provided to BNN Bloomberg by two sources familiar with the organization's plans. One of the sources confirmed other provinces are looking to add a similar list of products.

Provinces expect to sell the products under the following categories:

  • Concentrates: Cartridges, rosin (a solventless concentrade made with heat and pressure), resin, hash, wax, kief (a dry powder) and shatter (a butane hash oil);
  • Beverages: Hot, cold and dealcoholized drinks (each in single servings);
  • Edibles: Chocolate, soft candy, hard candy and baked goods;
  • Topicals: Lotions, creams and bath products
While some of the items won't be a surprise – such as chocolates and dealcoholized drinks – this is the first time a full product lineup has been disclosed ahead of October, when the federal government expects to legalize edibles and concentrates. The next phase of pot legalization comes exactly one year after dried and fresh cannabis flower, pre-rolls, oils and capsules became legal in Canada on Oct. 17, 2018.

Aren't they going to be limited to 10mg? Does that pertain to extracts? Personally I think the average person will buy way less edibles than dry weed. Two totally different highs and I know heavy weed smokers who really don't like the body highs from edibles.

Edibles don't do anything for me anymore and I didn't really like the effect when they did. I'd much rather smoke a joint.

Edibles are great, I used to hate them but now that I grow my own and make my own I love them. I like how it helps make my body pains go away, probably a facet of aging as to why I like them now :). Also I smoke so many joints sometimes I feel like they don't do anything anymore. That's when eating it comes into play. Sometimes I get so high eating it, it feels like one of the first times! And I think it is good for me too, so what the heck. Another side effect is the huge priapism in my pants all night long.

For me the edibles are too lethargic high just like if I drink a beer or alcohol at home or work during the day. Give me a super lazy feeling except for edibles it lasts way to long.

TORONTO - A group of alcohol and cannabis companies have formed an industry alliance to push for changes to proposed rules governing pot-infused beverages before edibles become legal in the coming months.

The Cannabis Beverage Producers Alliance is arguing for, among other things, the ability to produce pot-based drinks in the same facilities where non-cannabis beverages are made.

Under Health Canada's proposed rules for edibles, pot-infused drinks and food must be made in a separate facility.

Ottawa has finished a consultation process for its proposed rules, but has not yet released the final version.

The alliance has 10 member companies and is led by former Nova Scotia premier Darrell Dexter.

Group members include the Molson Coors-Hexo Corp. joint-venture Truss Beverages, Hill Street Beverage Co. and Collective Arts Brewing.

I can't see the alcohol having much thc in it. Even at 10mg someone drinking 4 beer in an 1-2 hour span would be pretty messed up.

Seems like they are going to fuck up a good thing, but we can always hope for the best I guess.

What's even best is another snake leading the pack The alliance has 10 member companies and is led by former Nova Scotia premier Darrell Dexter.

Mean while as a regular Canadian try to get into a retail/service business that deals with legal cannabis, yah good luck.

Jefferson are you still scaring the children with your priapism. Shame on you.
They won't believe your wooden leg story for long.
I like to go to the mall and ask the customer service desk to page " Woody Priapism please come to the desk, we found your dogs wads-worth "

Fuck em. Am I supposed to feel sorry for them that they need to invest in their company by expanding instead of buying up little companies to appear successful? Put up or shut up chuckle fucks...
