Back in the day, most weed was sold in lids (1 oz) for ten bucks, and a lot of it was just leaves. A mild buzz at least. Then we started seeing seeds ans stems and leaf and bid all crushed together.

Fortunately things have gotten better since then

Little late but yes sir you can smoke leaves and get high. Their better in joints cuz leaves are harsh out of a metal pipe and I just took some bottom leaves off my outdoor plants sat emin a little cardboard box for about 4 days and I just smoked them and feel pretty stoned(indica dominant strain) off a few joints of just dried leaf. Not saying I prefer it over bud but its not too bad.

I did it once, same situation as you. Got a little high, it wouldn't be worth it if you had a choice but if that's all you got it can be a lifesaver.....

Just smoked some crushed leaves in a bong. Got high. It's not as heady as the bud. But if you're out of bud, I'd suggest, crush some leaves and smoke them. Also, don't think it'd work with joints. I feel a mild high as I type this hehe B-)

I'm not interested in smoking leaves to get a buzz but i am interested in a tobacco substitute. I need something to smoke & i don't always want to be high (i know crazy right.) Do you ppl think it could be a viable substitute for cigarettes?

Sure unless they're dank leaves, i've never smoked leaves but I'm sure leaves that came from dank are gonna get you a bit high, leaves from mids I imagine wouldn't do anything to you.

Sure why not as long as you ain't a super lightweight you shouldn't get high fan leaves though I can get high off a joint of trim no problem I smoked a bunch of trim when I ran out a few years ago it did the trick better than brick.

sugar trim leaves from a well prepared organic grow probably taste nice alone or with a tobacco blend. still, I'd rather vape leaf if need be.

I found the link to it while doing a web search about this very subject.

Years ago, in the mid-late 70s I was getting high quite regularly. Back then when you bought an ounce of pot, it was mostly leaves with some buds in it. I remember guys counting the buds ( I never even cared about buds back then, to me pot was pot).
The thing about the pot now is that the high is not nearly as pleasant to me now as it was back then. Back then most pot gave you a very mellow euphoric feeling with less of a "buzz", unless of course you smoked a lot of it.
Even if you smoked a lot, after the intense buzz would start to wear off the nice wonderful mellow feeling would remain.
The best I had was called "columbian gold" and as I say, it was a mix of the whole plant. An ounce of normal pot back then was 35 bucks if I remember right, an ounce of columbian gold was 45. After that something called "redbud" started showing up.

Is there anyone else out there who has had this same experience? I have often wondered if the reason the high is more intense now but not as pleasant is because of the lack of leaves.

Well sir, i have your answer.... You became accustomed to smoking garbage. My mom was a hippie back in the day. (Im 23) I saw a few pics of the kinda shit she smoked as a teenager.... It didnt have any leaves, but looked like shit. I still wouldn't buy it for 30$ an Oz. Id rather pay 300 for the good shit. If my mom was still alive i bet one hit of some Sour Diesel would have here BAKED. Moreso than that whole 4 finger OZ of "redbud"
