Harvest Time Questions

Hey All.

Its about time I begin prepping for harvest (~2 weeks away)

1) Should I flush autos the same way as non-autos?

2) Should I harvest in the dark the same way as non-autos?

3) What should I do about the lower colas (not very developed)....Should I leave them on? Will they continue growing if I cut off the top colas?

4) Anything in particular I should be doing (not mentioned above)?

Thanks!!

1) Dont flush too long. 3-5 days is more than enough.

2)Yes, i usually wait until the lights turn off then unplug the actual light from the timer/power strip then theyre ready whenever i am. Make sure to keep the fans going if you plan to do this so mold wont be encouraged to grow.

3) Completely up to you. You can and they should continue to ripen up.

4) Get some music, scissors, alcohol, gloves, and trays. haha all house hold items.

How do you guys know if the trichomes are ready?

I have a jewelers glass and I can see the triches real up close but its almost impossible to tell if they are clear or creamed.

I am waiting to see any amber triches and see none yet so I know shes not ready...

Is there a trick to identifying clear vs clouded triches?

I have the same damn problem...I've got a 60x jewelers magnifying glass, I can see the trichs no problem and I think most are milky but I'm not sure...none the less I've flushed for 5 days and to be honest I thought I needed about 7-10 day's flushing but I'm out of time and they will but cut down in the morning....must say early or not I'm bloody excited lol

Well i start with the expected finish time of the seed company. Then ill ad a week if its a more sativa dom. So once it starts approaching that time ill bust oout the magnifying glass or take a picture of them with the lights off. If theyre super shiny like diamons then theyre not quite ready. But once you notice they arent as shiny thats when theyre fillin up. And honestly as long as you dont pick them when theytre still clear youre good. Some people wait till they see a bunch of ambers. But i usually go by site and time. Somewhere within the expected flowering time thebreeders say plus or minus, and then the cloudy ness. Once i see any ambers really ill chop. But most of my strains are heavily indica dom so they finish quick.

Also i only flush the last few days to conserve nutrients and use up any available in the soil. Notbecause it does anything to the bud because it doesnt. Ive fed up until theday before chop and ive flushed for 2 weeks. NO difference. The bud i didnt flush had a better yield but taste and potency was the same.
