Harvest seed question..

I've recently developed a new autoflower strain -Critical Assassination™- I got some of the mature brown seed with black specks... Was wondering how long after harvest are seeds viable, do I have to wait or will they germinate right away?

I personally wait a few weeks to plant one out, but I have planted them right off the branch too LOL, sometimes I just cant wait. When I harvest I get all the seeds I can put them on a square baking pan with high sides for a few weeks and then I store them for a month and pull them out for another 2 weeks then I sort and plant or sort and vault. Hope this helps, have a good one.

Thanks again for the advice moondance! Someone else said that as soon as the seed is mature and brown they can be planted... Is this true, how successful was the germination rate when you got the seed right off the branch?

I did it with my Skunk Wrecked Widows and she popped up in a few days, as long as they dont crunch between your fingers when sorting usually a good seed.

Okeydoke, really appreciate it MD! I'm going to try and start one, I scuffed up the outside with a nail file a bit and it sunk in the water hope it works and I didn't ruin the seed! My baby girl got into the grow room and slung dirt everywhere... It was my African buzz I was germinating, I found the seedling but the taproot is still very small hope it can recover and pull through!

Try the old school greenhouse trick with a cut pop bottle that acts as the greenhouse, plus i provides some protection lol, make sure to poke air holes in the cap for some venting or leave the cap off I cant remember right now lol. Sound like you did just fine on the seed.

The mature fresh seed cracked open overnight! This is going to be a nice strain I already know! Glad I left the mum, auto critical to grow out she's really swelling and shooting many more pistils! I might even let her go another week. What y'all think? I smoked most of the top cola only a G left! It got me so high, I can only imagine what the finished product cured will be like!
