They both have their purposes. But should you in DWC Focus on Benies or the H2o2 for sterilization.

Personally I am caught in between them. I love how Benies complete a plant, but also how there are no worries with h2o2 and you get mad growth.

What nasties? I've never had reason to use anything more than A + B veg and flowering nutrient with a splash of Ph down. Has someone been telling you porkies about growing "requirements"?

No just been reading on the benefits to adding certain supplements. I have never had a plant yeild less than 4 ounces since i started but I am curious if I take thinkgs away if it will effect this or not.

How you keep the nastys away is with water temps, the colder the water the harder it is for shit to take hold & breed in the rez,the rez also needs to be 100% light proof,h202 is not needed all the time.

I only use h202 if my rez temps are above 65 degrees or to soak the air stones in,as for adding it to every rez if the temps are properly controled it isnt needed.

As for adding bennies i will never use that bullshit in any type of hydroponic grow op ever again, the one time i tried them ( freebie) the garbage turned the rez into a smelly shithole,it also fucked my flood table up by leaving a layer of scum in the gutter channels of the table.

The worst that happened was with my roots, the way i grow flood & drain i normally have roots that are 2-3 foot long & white as snow, that crap turned all the roots dark brown & caused most of the very fine root hairs to fall off the main roots.

Before anybody goes into a speel where i musta done something wrong for them to do that think again,i got the freebie bennys from a general hydroponics seminar put on by their corporate office & the class was taught by their hydro expert, this dude knew his shit too & we all went over how to properly use the package,i even went on the side of caution & used 25% less than reccomended for my rez.

Those bennys are only good for soil if you care about a clean fresh rez,or nice roots.

So i should jsut keep the shit sterile and Ill never have issues again? Thats what I'm trying to determine. I just don't want the plant to become incomplete. I have awesome gorws so far, in my 4th grow now. plants are massive. but I just dont want to have this pythium issue ever again.

The requirement of hydroponics being completely sterile, in my opinion based from experience, is a load of crap. If you are getting life threatening issues with your grow, then it is because something is drastically wrong i your grow room, change that, not eh composition of the reservoir.

thats just it. My res is normally pretty cool. around 65-70, Its properly vented. good light. Its all there. just had a random growth of pythium. no other buckets were effected, nor do i want them to be so this is all for preventative measure.

"you" would be as in the OP, who i was talking to, and "porkies" would be as in lies..

If i was using "you porkies" to group a type of people, well the statement wouldn't make any sense.
lol and thanks, Tip Top ... that is how I read it, and it seemed unsporting. I learned a new term today! cn

Haha, porkies,i love it & ima use that shit later on,porkies even my wife is laughin, good stuff.

Anyhow tiptop hit the nail square on the head, all that sterile enviroment is a load of crap,i run 8 big ass 4ft x 8ft tables, each with its own 55 gallon rez,the rez's are all sunk in the ground with only about 6 inches above ground, this way i never have to chill any rez because the geothermal aspect of it keeps temps right around 60 degrees,in dead winter as low as 55 degrees.

Anyhow back to sterile enviroment,i burried the rez's to keep from spending $4,000 on chillers plus power costs, the one drawback is cleaning the rez, dumping the water is fast & easy as each rez has its own sump pump permenantly plumbed to dump right into the bldgs waste water, cleaning the bottom of the 55 gallon barrels is a mo fo & i cant pump out the last 4 inches of water, nor can i get inside the barrel to clean it really well.

All i do is take a sponge mop & scrub it around a bit before turning the pump on to dump the water, that below ground rez system has been operational for nearly 2 years now without a proper scrubbing or sterlization, ive never had any scum, bacteria, alge, mites, root aphids ect, zero problems.

When my rez's were above ground i had quite a few problems, thats when i figured out light & water temp played the largest role in a healthy rez,i bought one chiller & brought temps down below 65 degrees at all times & that rez was perfect while i still had problems with the other 7 rez's.

Your rez temp hitting 70 degrees is not good & can help grow the nastys, get the temp from 58 degrees to 65 degrees max & your rez will never gunk up again & you wont have to spend $30 on peroxide.

Oh & for the bennys,i grow soil also in areas that are too small for a flood table,i used bennys in a soil grow where each plant normally yeilds from 5 to 7 ounces per plant, the soil grow where i used the bennys didnt do any better or worse & yeilds were not any higher past non benny grows,i think bennys would be good for conditioning soil in an outdoor setting & thats about it.

I've not cleaned a single piece of my hydro equipment in about 2 and a half years now asdie from my PH meter. Residual salts and whatnot everywhere in big crusts etc, everythings just dandy :)
