Guns and Growing.

Sounds like we should just nuke the poor and shoot the homeless on site  Watch out!
Claymore . . .

I thought I was clear in making my point in that we need to stop giving people handouts and start teaching people to provide for themselves.

Overpopulation is no longer a fear. It's almost impossible.
No, stop giving handouts and the person will get hungry. Get them hungry, they'll get desperate. Get them desperate, they'll get....

a gun......

Do you honestly believe someone who is desperate for food will go get a gun and murder people before going out and getting a job or finding food?

Find me a reliable resource that says overpopulation is impossible. And while your at it look up globalization and how that could be a huge problem with spreading disease.

Reverse Darwinism in action.

And how do you propose we do that?
Perhaps we could start by stopping educating for standardized testing and start educating for life. Maybe we could teach people to make their own food the way I did, I worked on a farm (usually my grandfathers) during summers.
Maybe we could re-introduce home-ec in schools (it got cut a LONG time ago.)

So someone tell me at least three ways to make gravy. I'll give a +rep to anyone who gets it right and DOES NOT say 'buy the gravy packet.'

Our 'socialized' education is fk'n falling apart. It used to be good, but we cut all the 'life' courses in favor of better football teams. Oh ya, the books are on average 20 years old now. Could that have something to do with it.

We have proved 'socialize' anything doesn't work with welfare, schools, and medicare/medicaid.

By god lets call for more failed social programs please.

Heaven forbid schools have hunting lessons and teach students how to clean a deer. That might feed their family some day and they wouldn't NEED the government.

Well apparently he wasn't inferior intellectually or genetically because he used his brain to find a way to survive, leave the country, pretty creative and smart if you ask me.

There's always someone who get's upset by this diatribe. The fact is 9 times out of 10 those who are upset are upset because they or a family member lost health insurance. First of all, most the time we 'kids' pick up the slack for our parents if they are unable to get medical treatment, that's what good kids do for their folks. Second of all, many people, such as myself have been putting a 'nest egg' for just such problems later in life. If that nest egg gets eaten by sever medical expenses many times your kids can pick up the remaining tab.

Under the Clinton plan she was 'selling' during the primary I had to have a colonoscopy. It cost me $3000 and my insurance $15,000. It cost so much because I chose to go to the best. They found a polyp that would kill me in 5 years had it not been found. They used the latest technology, latest camera and latest digital imaging and removed the polyp and 400% of the surrounding tissue.

Under Clinton's plan (the Canadian plan) I would have been forced by the government to see their legislated doctor involved a wait of 6 months to 3 years to get scheduled for 1 of a few government funded colonoscopy scopes (likely made by the lowest bidder) and likely died as a result. Oh ya since I'm 32, I likely would have been denied care at all since I'm not in the 'risk group' being I have no family history of colon cancer and I'm under 50. So the government would have decided it was 'elective' anyway.

If I wanted the 'best' as I chose to get last year, then I would have to pay 100% cost on my insurance (which right now my company picks up 60%) AND pay for the 'Universal Plan' to cover everyone else. So my check would be reduced by close to $1000 a month to cover my insurance and some undetermined amount to cover everyone else except me because I'm not willing to accept 'lowest bidder' for my medical care and it saved my life.

People age, people get sick, and people die, that's a fact of life that's been going on forever. Either you find a way (as your dad did or as I did) to get the care you need or you die. Your call.

If you have ANY questions about governmental medical care take a tour of VA hospitals. I have and THEY SUCK! My dad was being treated in a VA hospital, for free since he's a Vietnam Vet, and while he was there he contracted hepatitis. He was there for post traumatic stress disorder and GOT Hep A at the VA Hospital. (Government at it's best.)

I'm sorry, buck up, pay your bills, and plan ahead. Don't leech off society so you can own a Lexus and not pay for your own parents.

Obama, at least in his campaign, got it right in forcing companies to provide medical coverage and providing incentives to insurance companies who advocate preventative care. He should also push for stronger restrictions on drugs and pharmaceutical companies to lower their prices as well as care providers and hospitals. That would increase health care for those of us who are in the upper half of the genetic / intellectual bell curve.

I understand your argument and fully appreciate your well spoken diatribe, I want to say that first off. But where does this view leave people with serious mental disabilities? People with serious physical disabilities? People like my dad who don't have families to support them? It leaves them dead. That's more than cruel.
I have to disagree because I live in a country, NOW, where universal healthcare works. I have had to go to the hospital many times, my dad obviously deals with them alot, and from all my experiences I would say that it is a good healthcare system. It is also rated far above the United States in terms of quality of healthcare, in fact I believe it is in the top 5 in the world. You can always choose private health care, a private hospital, and enjoy the luxuries of high-class care, as it seems you would have, for some money. That is always an option, and for some reason people do not consider that.

Society has changed RT we are part of a connected global culture now. Most people have no need to know how to clean a deer. It's sad but thats what politicians like to call "progress". I don't think it will matter much what we teach in schools if our children are no longer interested in learning.

I mean why learn when you could just play X-Box? Exchange of information is now more free than ever however with the internet. We are all becoming more intelligent because of our connectivity.

It's getting better but in the form of new technology not antiquated politics. :peace:

In 2020 maybe we will tap into Google mind?

No, but if they have one, want to gamble they won't use it? Desperate people don't think about jobs, they think about getting what they need.

Ask any scientist. Really, any scientist. If I'm wrong I apologize. But I'm not.

Also I know a lot about globalization, but have no idea what it has to do with anything I've talked about.

I wish I had the option to take hunting/firearm courses when I was in school. I might have even stayed in school longer if they did have some outdoor, hands on courses like that.

Some people can argue we might not need these skills now, But what i is our economy and crumbling infrastructure gonna be like in 20-30 years?

If all the groceries stores go out of business then your gonna wish you knew how to clean that deer.

Either you live in the UK (most likely) or Cuba (I don't think so.)
I recently had 2 UK subjects shack at my place in the US for 2 weeks while they explored our travesty of nation. They were amazed at our freedoms and appalled at our restrictions. They also were appalled at their own restrictions.

They complained about over taxation immigration, and something about perfectly round vegetables.

For now the UK system is working ... I have a strong feeling from everything I've read that the European Union is quickly going to become a broiler pot that will eventually boil over. For your sake, I hope I'm wrong.

I am American to the core, even worse a self sufficient mid-westerner. I think the majority of the citizens in the US are pathetic whining nit wits who need to get off their asses and get to work and stop begging the Government for everything. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees and NO ONE will ever refer to me as a subject.

It pained me, but I voted for McCain, not because I liked him but because I figured he'd fail so miserably that WE THE PEOPLE would finally get off our asses and demand real change. If Obama wanted MY vote he would have changed his slogan to 'Yes you can.'

Desperate people think about what they need. AND they will do what they KNOW to get it.

Not every desperate person KNOWS where to get a gun. But if these desperate people KNOW how to hunt or fish or get a job then they have no reason to get a gun.

And I would think a hungry person would just steal food before killing for it....

I dont need to ask any scientist, any real scientist, I dont think you have... But I did go ahead and look it up for you. Please explain how it is impossible? Since you are so confidently "right"

It is possible for very sparsely-populated areas to be overpopulated, as the area in question may have a meager or non-existent capability to sustain human life

And globalization was referring to Reverse Darwinism, which was what we were talking about when you said overpopulation is impossible.

You'll have to excuse me I'm from N. Iowa and I view 'we the people' as citizens opposed to federal government.

I saw the Obama campaign more as 'Ask not what you can do for yourself but what your government can do for you.' His language didn't call for a citizen call to action, it was more 'vote for me and I'll provide for you.'

I would like to see a call to action for the people to get off their ass and provide for themselves. Not a call to action for the people to provide for everyone else, which is what I"m getting out of his campaign and the propoganda around it.

Perfect example,

Iowa floods = Iowans working to improve Iowa. (Yes you can)
Hurricane Katrina = New Orleans begging for Government help (yes we can)

Right now I'm REALLY paranoid (and completely sober I promise) that he's going to release the Mandatory Minimums on Crack but do nothing for Marijuana. If he does that I personally will see it as racially motivated legislation and anti-white. His drug legislation, excuse the pun, will reveal his true color.

Given that 'Crack-Cocaine' is a f'n joke of a name. It's crack, that's it, it went through a chemical change when it was made into crack and that shit is evil. Cocaine is down right mellow when compared to crack. I've made crack and I've watched it destroy people (thankfully I never used it.)

So if he goes for getting the black man out of jail but lets the white guy rot for growing herb I'll vote for Jeb Bush over him next election.

Sorry for the total left turn, but Obama provides me with hope and fear all at once.
