Growth Stopped

I've got a couple plants vegetating for about 2 months. They were going along ok but seemed to stop growing in height. The main leaves kept coming and the lower buds started filling in, so I am left with a lot of leaves and little height.

Anyway to increase the plant's height? Other then stretching them by moving lights?

Nutrients? Increase the pot size?

I am using 6 100 watt equivalent CFL's, no nutrients and the pots are pretty small.

Thanks.

2 months is along time to veg. are flowering them now? your not going to be able to flower plants that big with those cfls, do a small SOG or get a bigger light imediatly.

Check this place out. If you get some better cfls like 3 of the 105 watters youll be ok.
warm colour for flowering.

how tall are they?
what pot size, plants will only grow as tall as their pot (not literally but small pot=smaller plant)... and dont bother transplanting now its too rootbound, flower them now.
you need nutes...
why would you want them to stretch??

There really small thats the problem. They are less than 7 in tall and tons of leaves, could just be the structure of the plant? this is the frst grow so I'm not expecting much. I'm thinking my plants got nute burned too early from the miracle grow but I'm just trying to see what I can do to keep them going for some sort of yield.

You cant use MG.

7in tall is crazy for 2 months, I would start over if you have the seeds. or take some clones and try again. the plant should be 12-18 inches in 4 weeks or less.

I started out with 8 cheap 23 cfls for veg and 6 plants and they grew great. But like I said before you can even flower and really expect anything you need more light. First you need some plants tall enough to flower though heh.
And yeha some plants are very short and stalky, my Black Widow is Half the height my Queen for example, indicas are shorter.

You need some real nutes
MG IS NOT GOOD FOR THIS!

superthrive is great for the first 2 weeks of veg and you can get it at wallmart, $7 for a lil bottle that makes 1000 gallons.

If you really want to keep those plants, flush them with water for a week, they might yellow a lil thats ok, get some veg nutes, or atleast superthirve if thats all you can afford. CFLs should be 2-3 inches away.

there might be a few things wrong here.
1. nute lockup
2. pot size, if your not using 5 gallon or more than thats the problem.
thats just my opinion.

waht type of mg are you using..you can use mg its just not the best, i use mg moisture control soil and it works fine for me..i think its your pot size..if there in small pots and they just stopped growing its definatly the pots..the roots need room to grow

you wouldn't use a 5 gal pot for smaller plants. only 6 fters, thats what I am using now, but the lower half of my plants dont get enough light so no buds.I have used 3 gals and got good results and so does my friend, its not worth the dirt, room, and nutes to water a big pot when you dont really get ore out of it, I think.

And for SOG you use small pots.
My next grow im going to use 2 gal bags and lots of small plants.

If you have some like beer cup sized pot then yeah lol...

Yes you can use 5 gallon pots for smaller plants..it depends how long you veg for, thats what determines the plants size..like in sog you dont veg for a long time thats why you use smaller pots

ook, exactly. so why would you use a large pot when your not going to veg long and have a small plant. Like I said for larger plants use a larger pot, along with longer veg time of course. Thats all I was saying.
And you don't want your roots still growing when you put into flowering either.

You have been sooo helpful thank you. Its definitley my pot size, its not even 1 gallon. I am going to switch pot sizes, flush the plants for a week, and change soils. Sound reasonable?

Then, I will see how they grow, perhaps get a few more lights and then get into the nutrients being sure to check the ph the water so its 6.5 before adding them. Sound good? Suggstions are welcome! Thanks so much.

Would it be worth it to flower them until I see which of the 4 are female and then clone it so I don't waste my time on my second attempt? And, I could try to flower it anyway just for the a trial run?

Sounds good,
Yes definitely flower and take clones of females.

I dont know about flowering a 7 inch plant, I guess thats done in some SOG setups though. So maybe theyll be fine, just dont expect much, and In flowering you need high phosorus, bone meal is good and cheap, or guano.

If I were you I would transplant into just 1 or 2 gal pots, let them veg a few more weeks to grow the roots then flower them.

If you want a big plant that yeilds alot then transplant into a bigger pot like 4 or 5 gallons then veg it for 1 or 2 more months, or you can sex your plant early then if its a girl go back and put it on a veg time then just take clones from that( aka mother plant)..if you want a smaller plant that wont yeild as much then transplant it into a 1 or 2 gallon pot and veg for like 2 weeks longer..good luck:blsmoke:

yea iv'e cloned up to 3 weeks off a plants in flowering before. Clone from the lower branches that are not really budded and put them back in veg.

do you have a recommendation for soil I could pick up from like wal mart or something? I cant seem to find fox farms anywhere and think I should avoid anything with built in nutrients as that caused some problems earlier.
