I am a noob but I can safely say the following:
I am sure it depends on in which climate you live in, what kind of windows you have (which materials the transparent part is made of, such as glass/plastic) and how long do your plants bath in the sun during a day. Some strains won't start flowering until the sunny hours are reduced, that's why many growing indoors switch their lights to a shorter duration to start the flowering period.
If you live somewhere south in a warm climate it should work OK as far as the glass allows to pass most of the sunlight, including the UV light. If you live in Siberia and the day is short and the sunlight is not intense you might have poor results.
In other words, please let us know some details
