Grow tents in tandem in garage. How many BTU mini split?

By makeup air i do mean the air that will replace what is exhausted venting the air cooled hoods.

If your not using room air, where are you getting it from?

If filtered outdoor air is used to vent the hoods, will it always be acceptable temperature?

If indoor air is used, outdoor air will replace it thus increasing your heating/cooling bill.

Basically just cool the room with AC and forget blowing hoods then you can alsoditch glass and get more lumens.
great point. i really do miss my parabolic hoods.

if you ditch the air cooled hoods on the other hand.. then you better make damn sure that your AC is a monster, and that you have adequate air circulation in those closed tents, especially canopy level.
if the air being pulled through your hoods is coming from outside, you wouldn't have to worry about filtering it.. but like someone said, the air temps will be an issue.
if you pull AC air direct from the unit and run it through your lights then you might have a problem with condensation in your hoods, which might eventually turn your garage into a bonfire.
if you exhaust the tents into each other..im not sure what would happen but it'll probably be hot as fuk.
if you're pushing AC through a split into both tents at equal pressure, that is probably the best, but without pulling filtered air from inside the tents, through your hoods, and exhausting it outside.. i cant see how you will be able to maintain 70-80 F. it's not the most efficient of setups, but its what I do. I have a 10,000 BTU portable AC that is linked with my lamp exhaust duct, it pushes cold air into one side of the room, while I have my carbon filter pulling air at the opposite end of the room.
i want to run vertical 600's and stop fukin around with the hoods, but its hot here - i just cant see any way around it. water chilled hoods are seriously inefficient, a 1/4 HP chiller only chills 2 600's, and not well I might add, at the price of another 457watts.. or something like that.
Why are you so set on makin it completely sealed? if you dont mind me askin..

Smell is the enemy, and I want to use the garage area for the noise factor plus there's just more room.

A 24k btu minisplit will be more than adequate. If it gets too hot, I don't mind cutting back to one light from two 1k's.

but with air-cooled lights, i will be pushing the air through. this will "leak" air creating a positive pressure situation. i'm contemplating having a twin fans on the intake and exhaust, just to balance the pressure...hmmmmm.

my sealed room will not have an exhaust fan. steps are being taken to avoid this.
Use air ducted from outside to cool your lamps. If you pull air from the garage, that air will be replaced by air seeping in from outside that you will then have to cool and dehumidify.

maybe like 4 small carbon scrubs in each corner of the garage running 24/0
like you say the positive pressure situation will leak the reek of dank every which way
i thought i had a good carbon scrub, but at the end of flower last run it was a little stinky for sure
i dont know what the fuck to do honestly, so far every carbon scrub ive had has never masked the smell very well.

if the minisplit is enough to cool the 1k x 2, i'm golden. there won't be any pressure, and i won't have too much of an issue with smell. going to be a few more months until i can get this setup going.

Venting to an attic is bad.

Air cooling lights is cool and all, but a pain in the ass unless you can control ambient air intake temps.

Maybe you could set it up for air cooling in the summer and not winter.

i'm not air cooling, or would rather not want to. sizing the minisplit to handle this with open hoods.

and since the tents are going to be in the garage, there is a buffer area.

a small ozone generator may do the trick.

Well then a 24k mini split wouldn't be adequate if your cooling down the whole garage.

Or at least you would be definitely pushing the limits. When its in the +90 temp outside how warm is it in the garage?

When its in the 90's have your chiller running in the garage then see how warm it is.
