•Hydroponics or soil
•Hps whole grow (if so what watt?)
•Cfl for vegg (if so what watt?)
•Ballast for CFL
•the fan with air ducts if using cfls
•what size pot
•can I make a hydro bucket myself

IMG_0819.JPG This one took me basically 2-3 months to gather, assemble, test run, tweek, get clones rooting, sort mother issues out.

also another question can't I just use led lights or cfls and no big carbon filter idrc about smell cause I'm in my basement and it smells like 30 yrs of laundry detergent and its cool down there so intake would be a cooler than usual...

I think you need to do some due diligence and come back with specific questions on what you have decided to do. At the moment your questions posed are basic, and if you cannot find answers to them, I am thinking you should not grow.

"30 yrs of laundry detergent" - cool, but, as soon as you introduce another smell, that will be noticeable above that smell - especially dope. Can't help but think of the young school kid who tells the teacher, "I have not been smoking" - but clearly the teacher can smell it, but the kid is still adamant she can not, "you can't smell it miss"

The above tent is 1.0m square by 2.0m high. I have another mother/clone tent beside.

Hydro is faster, soil is much more forgiving (and cheaper).
For a 5x5 tent - I'd say that a, 600w dimmable MH/HPS combo with a filter/fan/cool tube set up, just might work.
A tent is bloody hot, as well as the smell EC mentions. You need to get rid of both, so yes a filter fan is needed, even in the basement.

A buddy swears by his "professional substrate growing mix", the stuff greenhouses use. He only uses big bud during flower, no other nutes.

Good luck

yo ok thank you now I have two questions now should build the filter fan or should I buy one and I heard something about ballast and Comcast lol something about ballast fucks with people radio interference. And if I had everything in the tent how loud would it be even tho I'm in the basement I still don't want it to be heard

PS I'ma stick to soil for a while atleast til I run out of ff nutes

I'd buy it, charcoal can be messy. Check out E-bay or whatever for an idea of the cost of package deals.
Noise would be a bit louder than a bathroom fan.
EMI (electromagnetic interference) shouldn't be a problem with new ballasts, they're shielded. If you're still concerned, don't put the ballasts near any other electronic equipment.

Have fun.

My plan is to move on from scrog soil like yourself to passive hydro, ie hempy buckets. Seems the simplest way to transition. Should still feel familiar but introduce the need to monitor ph, ec and measure feed more acurately. Once i have that down, i may move onto a diy nft of dwc system. But one step at a time...!

Hey buddy, my 2cents is as follows;

1) use LED to avoid extra stuff needed for heat issues etc. for your small tent it wont cost a bomb & will save on elec. Since your grow size is small you won't need a big filter for odor so this shouldn't be a problem at all. But I suppose you could start off without one & if the smell gets bad immediately set-up up the filter - you might choose a strain that isn't too pungent.

2) use hydro DWC if you can spare the extra time & expense, this speeds matters up because of the extra oxygen the roots will be getting - as well as providing better yields. In your space I would say 2-3 plants max with about 15L of water per plant (the more water the better). You will need pH up & down as well as a pH meter to test the water & you will need to read up on this method.

3) If using soil then again at least 15L pots (bigger roots = bigger plant = bigger buds) as well as ensuring the pH is right depending on the medium.

Good luck

I wanted to do like 3 plants but I figured the smell shouldn't get that bad like I said its a 24x24x64 tent but its just idk what light to decide I'm so stuck on cfls but the hps would be good for the light but I'm so worried about heat......

It is going to smell more then you think, trust me. Trust Me. Save your self the time and money because all the little things that you are thinking that will mask the smell wont, and after you tried them all you could have bought a small fan and filter. 4 inch fan and a 4x8 filter is a small set up that wont set you back, you can probably get them both for less then $100. I know what your thinking, but trust me. I'm not trying to come of as "fan's and filter's or you suck" but everything else is just air freshener on top of weed growing! You can get away with a 250 watt hps in there, and if you decide to go with the fan a 6 inch would take care of a 400 watt in there.

Just go with LED as you won't have any heat issues & will do the job just as well if not better than hps. So many brands available including cheaper one's from China...just do some research online & you'll find something suitable.
