Grow room Supplies across Can/US Borders?

Hey guys, I am looking into starting my first grow room as well. I have been looking @ HTGSupply.com and I am liking both the prices and the service so far. But what I was wondering is, is it a good idea to have the entire system, shipped across the border, on a Freight skid, (which to me seems to be less noticeable especially in a full truck).

Have any of my fellow Canadians ever tried it? Any questions asked?

Thanks

U should be cool with shipping across seas but don't order everything at once if u are getting multiple things it will look hotsause to have multiple packages arrive so close together... U should look online first thou and c if there are any hydroponic stores in the area I have a brew n grow 20 mins away from me n its great and the people are great but end result shipping is ok if u don't have access to a lighting or hydro store

There are local shops nearby, I am just affraid / concerned to pay 40-50% more for products because its always been that way here in Canada. Our dollar is stronger than the US, but we still pay 40-50% more on individual products. When you can cut the bill in half, its a simple choice.

But I'll go check out the prices for the fun of it maybe tonight.

Why are you worried about shipping completely legal items? What are you afraid might happen?

Honestly, I am aware that these are legal items. But you know as well as I do that if you can avoid leaking out intents or signs of a grow op out into public eyes, you do the best you can to avoid it.

What public eyes? You think the delivery man is going to recognize the shipper? And do what? Take his time to report a completely legal shipment to the police when it could jeopardize his job?

Keep in mind that the majority of grow equipment purchased and shipped is completely non pot related.

U have a right to be concerned about it bro just don't order everything at once n u will be cool n Mr gastanker idk his setup or plans but I will put my life on it if I order 5 1000 watt lights, nutes, pot, ect cops will be knocking on my door its like when people make home made bombs all the stuff is completely legal but they still get caught up when they buy combinations of different shit n to much of it it raises suspicion just like a list of indoor grow equipiment

I dont think HTG supply ships to Canada, its what made me end up going to the local hydroshop. My hydroshop overcharges as well but such is life, if you want cheaper stuff looks on craigslist/kijiji and hope to find something good. The hydroshop has a deal; 4 1000w mag ballasts, 4 1000w hortilux, 4 reflectors of your choice (basic cooltube or parabolic.) for $1100 which sounds pretty good to me so if you are buying in bulk inquire about prices and give them the old "This shop priced me at $xxxx and your charging $300 over that can we make a deal?"

The OP definitely has the right to be concerned, but really?

Really not trying to be a dick but that's just nuts. My grandfather grows orchids on a large scale... He's never had the cops knock on his door after ordering large amounts of equipment...

How are the police going to find our about your order? HTG is going to tell them? How can you possibly imagine the police trying to track all shipping orders (information they aren't even privy to) and then illegally hassling the recipients? I'll bet you $10k that if you ordered 5 lights no cop is going to knock on your door due to it. And guess what, if they do tell em to fuck off; If they don't, sue em.

Now if your neighbor notices you unpacking it all in the driveway and calls the police...that's a different issue.

I work in the agriculture industry and know hundreds of people who've ordered 100s of HIDs at a time for installation in large greenhouses - along with pumps, environmental controllers, ferts... Never, ever, have I heard of police showing up to just dick around. I also know quite a few mid to large scale MMJ growers who all order large amount of equipment... never ever has one been hassled from an order. Actually, I've never even heard of a single person on this site being hassled due to a large equipment order. Have you? Do you positively know a single person that has ever had a problem?

Now I did read about one case where police setup a surveillance camera opposite a hydro store and used tags to drive by customers homes. I want to say that the city got sued. ** turns out the city didn't get sued, they just took down the camera. http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/surveillance-of-largo-hydroponic-supply-shop-ends-but-legal-growers-shook/1207647

*bomb making material sales (even bulk fertilizer) is strictly monitored by government agencies and for the most part there is complete transparency. If you try go pick any of that stuff up you'll be showing IDs, signing documents... Pretty different than grow lights.

My advise is to go to your local shop with your full list of equipment, with an internet price, and ask them how close they could get to the price. With a big purchase they will come off the shelf price real quick. 2yr ago I did this when I built my rm, & the local shop damn near matched the price. 6 months ago I went to buy a new duel 400W large hood setup... I wanted re-build hps ballast kits. They dropped the price on a pair of Sun Systems Harvest Pro Elite ballast to $100 more than rebuild kits for the pair. Be a smart shopper and buy local.
