I vent mine up into the attic threw a hole i cut and boxed out.The wood is resting on a foam seal to reduce vibration and the fan is hung on springs of also help with vibration.Any stench from the weed is up in the air where it can't be smelt,no need for a filter.10 years and no mold and a cooler attic that helps keep the house a bit cooler.

Dont take chances. It all stinks. Any strain. Plus it gets stronger and stronger. A carbon filter
Should be up high in the room, heat and odor rise. If you can exhaust outside that is the best option. Recirculating scrunbed air can backfire. Look into a tent, enclose plants within it. Better tents have thick walls that trap odor better, then run a suitable size fan and phresh brand filter strapped to the inside roof of the tent. Exhast it as far away as you can. Calculate cfm of fan and carbon unit by tent or room size. There is a formula.

The best solution that I have found is to pipe it straight to your chimney....that is if you live in a wooden house. The brick that is used to build chimneys back behind the brick that matches your home is as hard as #5 concrete, you can spend all day trying to bore a 6 inch hole through those red bricks. If you go with a fan check out Fantech, my 8 inch is manufactured in Germany and assembled in USA. I put some duct work on the end and lined it with plush carpet. Not a pretty sight but it works great to lower the already low noise that the plastic Fantechs make.
Above all else make sure that your fan is a centrifugal fan and that it has enough CFM to push through that carbon. Anybody have a ipower filter from Amazon? don't know if it is crushed or pettet

You could rig some kind of clamp that goes on the top of the door extending to an arm to hang the fan and filter off of. So the door can open and close easily. Just make sure there's no other leaks and the room itself will reek but not outside of it. 12x12 is big. Get a niiiiice biiiig phresh filter. Like an 8-10" x 32-36" with a serious fan.

Ahhhhh. Ok I will try that. So when I open the door. And the scent escapes, will it stink outside for a long time? Or jus a small time frame and the scent will fade?

Why not just make yourself a 3/4 door? Cut the top 1/4 portion (or about 12") off of the door and nail that into place in the door frame. The lower 3/4 of the door would still be usable. Then mount your exhaust to the top 1/4 and not have to worry about it interfering with the swinging of the door. Obviously if you do this, just but yourself a cheap $50 door and use it instead of the original.

Yeh I actually was gona do that. Make a little doggy entrance at the bottom. I may very well do that. I'm sure it wud also help prevent light leaks thru the door as I'll be able to seal it up tighter at the top

Cool. Your imagination is the limits when it comes to the design.
If you're only going to use a 5x5 space in a 12x12 room, why not just frame it out? Use some cheap 2x4s and some 1/4" ply for the skin? Build it in a corner so 2 sides are already complete...

I was also thinking about that but it's my first grow and I've seen horror stories about poor ventilation so I'm afraid to choke the plants up too much. Wanted to give them some space to air out in the room. Don't kno if i wud NEED to do that.

Just install intakes in the bottom sides of it and exhaust out the top with your cf and fan. It's be no different than growing in a tent.

Ok going to set up a tent in closet 2x4 3x3. This in a apartment. Exhaust is a issue. Closet is open no doors. Concerns odor. Noise, heat. Vent issues one window on opposite side of room, break in if filter out window. Can't run to attic. Rent. Ac/heat unit in room. Can I vent into room? Do I need intake fan? Will be running the 315 ceramic sun lec. Thanks for any input. Before tent arrives I am thinking about hanging the light and putting girls in closing closet with a curtain room de died etc? These are babies should I be worried with odor for ten days?
