this is the basic design of the boxes i plan to start the babys in, i have bigger boxes to move them into as they outgrow this one. i line the boxes with cheap emergency blanket(mylar).
one fan blows in, one fan blows out

good idea/setup? give me your input. i'm using 23 watt 65 k CFLs. 6 lights on 3 sockets with y splitter on each. starting 4 babys very soon.

Cool man, I love DIY projects. Is there going to be a door on the front? How are you going to mount the light? You building a top to it also?

cutting out a piece of cardboard slightly bigger than the top of it so it can just sit there on top, then i line it with mylar, cut circles big enough to fit the sockets through to inside, and walla. top, bottom, and sides are closed, and the top makes it easy to make the lights as close as needed and well as opening it to check on them.

by the way, what is the BEST way to germinate seeds in your opinion?

I myself just use Jiffy Pots and put them in a warm dark place. Makes it easy to transplant and I have a very good success rate, 10/ 10 with my last germination using Jiffy's.

The only reason I don't use the paper towel method anymore is because I ended up damaging some of my expensive sprouts. If you do end up with the paper towel then I suggest getting some tweezers to help you out.
