Grow Box

VERY nice, but you need way more Cfls. I'm very impressed though.
I was thinking of adding some under the plexi in the flower room and i left room for a couple more in the veg i just wasn't sure how many i should use. I was following a guide i found for a stealth grow box i just kinda changed it up a bit to fit my needs. I used his light placement and count.

How many would you suggest ive read 10,000 lumen's / sq foot? and im just about at that now.

is that a carbon filter on the veg side??? shouldnt it be on the flower side?
i love the plexi cool tube thing its a good way to keep the heat away from the plants but hard to get them close to the light would have to stack them up or whatever

what if you made a plexi box that fit over the plant and just cooled it instead of the bulbs LOL a cool tube for the plants a novel idea

neways good lookin cab in the works m8

I have a fan in the centre wall & the intake air holes are on the flower side under the floating floor..So air is pulled in and across to the veg side. Both doors are weather sealed so no air can come though them. Im using the carbon filter to create the negative air pressure aswell witch helps with the smell containment.

As for the Lights being to far from the plants in the flower room i agree. I have been playing with the idea of adding 3 more cfl's lower in the room sorta like the flower room. Think this would be a good compromise?

what are your temps like? can you control them?? if so id grab some bigger bulbs like 68w or a bunch of 42 or 55 or whatever you can get and fit as many as you can in both sides i know it sounds weird but id add as many lights as i could until i almost couldnt keep it cool enough LMAO

but yes adding some lower on the flower side would help the bottom buds im nto sure on your method of grow but your going to want a tall plant to be 2 inches from the lights at all times for dense bud being set way up like that with cfl's in my opinion from what ive read produce stretch and cause fluffy bud we dont want that id start by adding two 68w 2700k bulbs can get them from lowes not sure if they have those around you but yeah..... if temps hold out start replacing the others with the bigger bulbs until it starts to get tough to keep temps then thats your threshold of most light for the cab unless adding better ventilation.

is that a homemade carbon filter?

whats your grow style?

tell us more and take pics i love getting ideas from others i like the light trap thing you got there in the middle

again looking good need updates :-)

Currently im sitting at 75-79 in the flowering room and 80-83 in the veg room. But i only have 3 small 1" holes for air intake ( i can add a few more). So for what i currently have them temps are good. But im going to try to add some bigger bulbs as suggested ( i was checking online and i can get some 65W 3900 lumen bulbs).

The carbon filter is home made. Using a 6" in line duct fan, some ducting, aluminium screening, and panty hoes.

I ordered my seeds today, Going with White Widow (Vision) and a Kali mist (not sure of the breeder) . im going to be growing in a soiless mix of Promix BX (50%), Vermiculite (15%), perlite (35%) using 2 gal. pots for flowering (only 2' of grow room so the plants will stay short and bushy with lots of topping).

This will be a perpetual grow, And i will add some more pictures as i progress.

you DO need to add at least one or two mor cfls in there and u should find a way to make them hieght adjustable for them to go up as your plants grow.if your only going to do 1 or 2 plants in there it should be alright with that setup from what i can see. i have a set up of only 4 cfl bulbs (one on each wall) and a 10$ 24 inch flourescent ''Grow'' light from walmart (overhead, one of the purplish ones) and my plant has been getting prettier and prettier by day. If your going for a huge harvest like say 2 oz per plant out of that box youll need alot more light and some super cropping, but if you wanna pull a small amoount like a personal smoke like i do that should be fine.

The Floors in both rooms are floating (adjustable) So im going to raise the floor when the plants are smaller, to get them closer to the lights. I was thinking 3-4 Plants so im going out tonight to find some bigger bulbs and im going to move some of the smaller ones down into the room.

the floating floor will get old quick LOL i seen it in a few other cabs and they went like 2 weeks or so then bam the light started moving instead LOL its doable but takes alot more time
i feel when the plant goes into flowering in your cab it should only be 4-8 inches from the plexi or i think it will not produce much in my opinion. and the bottom isnt going to get hardly any light if any at all without under lighting. you could screen it and lst it to maximize the footprint of light cause cfls dont reach very far.

good luck on the bigger lights ive seen you can order them ofline pretty cheap also if you cant find them locally i know walmart again not sure if you have those in your area but i know they have 55 w 2700k's and 42w's also

Made the Light upgrades to the veg room.

Was a bit late before i was able to get to the hardware store. The flower rooms lights will have to wait till tommorow to get set up. Will post pictures of That also.

Good job i was about to make something like this but the thing i was using was too heavy and too big to fix in my house so i gave it away.I grow in a open room on a clothes rack now.

it's hard to tell, but I'd say your CFLs are taking up too much valuable grow space, imo. you're probably better off with a couple 4 bulb 24" T5s hanging vertically on the walls. also, i'd make it a single "bloom box" and put the veggies in their own smaller box.

the t5's on the wall would be a good idea but since you got the bulbs already id use them. just make sure the bulbs kinda hit inbetween the plants you know what im saying plant, bulb, plant you may need to bend the plant or whatnot to keep them away from the cfl's but in my opinion your now wasting your top lights cause the 42w or whatever hanging from the plexi is blocking most of the light coming down. again if you center it properly between plants etc should be ok

also there is no exhaust under the plexi is there? thats an intake and two to blow them around am i right? maybe some holes in the plexi will help suck out all the air above and below the plexi

i see the thermo in there so whats the temps and give us the numbers on the lights now :-) please sir

also wheres the plants m8 :-)

The lights are between where the planters will sit, The hanging light is directly in the centre of the room this wont cut space for growing and if it dose become a problem i can always just make tie points and force the plants to grow where i want. Making 2 separate boxes would have almost doubled the cost of building, need more fans, timers, wiring blah blah, so that is out. Ive built this whole box for under 400$.

Yes the Light hanging is in the centre of the room...the plants will be around it. I just wanted a way that all the plants could get light from the 1 big bulb. As for exhaust the Fan in the wall Is pulling air from the Flower room into the Veg room. Also the passive intakes are under the floor in the flower room. Yes the two fans on the wall are just for air movement. The plexi is a heat trap there are 2 x 120 mm fans pulling air directly off the lights and out witch has been amazing for keeping temps down As those 6 lights create a major amount of heat. As for temps:

Room - Lights - Temp

Flower - On - 85.3 F
Flower - Off - 78.5 F
Veg - On - 88.2 F ( i need to get this down a couple degrees working on that atm)
Veg - (flower lights off) - 78.5 F

Also last night i seen something i had overlooked. I havent put any fans for air movement in my veg room just the 6" exhaust, This may also help bring the temp down that last couple degrees i need. As for the plants! good question. My seeds are on route, i should have them next week sometime, I Ordered White Widow ( breeder - Vision), and Kali Mist ( breeder - unknown). I recently just pulled my outdoor plants and they are in the process of curing atm, Is Euphoria ( breeder - Dutch passion).

Finished the stain on the cab, Not sure if i wanna gloss it or not. I also got my seeds in the mail today so im gonna let the box run for a couple days then germinate!!
