Put a 10x Leupold on it, you can probably take it to its Max Effective range. Probably about 800m.

But again, you put a gen3 or any other scope bracket on there, and no striper clips.
My brother is borrowing my loaded m1a. Put a scope on it, but I'm yet to fire it

Leupold for scopes, Trijicon ACOG for the rest. We also use AimPoint reflex sights, but you might as well be using iron sights.

Bingo. I've used Aimpoints and they're awesome for quick acquisition, but my lousy eyes much prefer true telescopic sighting.
I had two really nice "varmint" style rifles ... lost'em both due to stupidity. A 6.5-20x mark 3 and a 36x benchrest scope went on the same odyssey. ~derp~

Yeah, you know what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure you can buy flip up sights that mount to the picatinny as backup.
I thought they where called ghost sights or some shit
