Just cut it a day or 2 before you leave and put everything in a cardboard box, with each layer separated by a piece of paper.

There's absolutely no reason to quick dry. That makes no sense.

Hey, churchhaze! I'll do that cardboard box trick if it comes down to chopping before I go. Also, I might put the box in the cab and seal it. The humidity levels in my apartment are really low, so left hanging openly, the buds are crispy in couple of days. Inside the sealed cab I would like to think it's gonna be a like a long cure... I have a humidity meter I'm gonna check it out right now, it says 32%.

Google self watering probes. They're pretty cheap and I remember a thread a while back where someone used them and everything went fine. It's just a probe with a hose that goes in a res. Just a thought.
Or offer your buddy a zip of his choice of nugs to water em?

i was thinking about the probes for him too but he is going to be gone for 3 weeks he'd have to have like 3 per plant or more and my worry with that was the probes are going to keep it really saturated. and 3 weeks of really wet soil can fuck the plants up .. but i was thinking the same thing

i shouldn't that "the probes" i should say "that many probes" will keep it really saturated

Nice suggestions, I haven't seen those probe things before. However, If I were to do an auto-watering project, I would use a big container on a chair, elevated above the plants, and have one drip tube go into each plant container. When I say drip tube I'm talking like intravenous drip tubes where you simply slide a small "lock", mounted on the tube, to let the desired amount of water pass.

Monkeygrinder, I am indeed gonna give my buddy something for the troubles, but since he's trying to cut back on the weed, he's getting some of my premium home-made hashish instead.

Well you could order them and give em a try. See if you can dial in a sweet spot with the moisture level etc. I have absolutely 0 experience with your medium though.

Well, I can water about 1 gallon, or about 3,5 litres at once. And it can stay like that for a week before it needs water again. I like coco A LOT, but I don't have much experience with anything else so I can't really compare. Overwatering is not an issue anyways, as it drains itself into the reservoir (kitty litter). It's awesome, highly recommended. I don't have any need for those probes really, cause they're just to small. I guess if I filled up the reservoir and also used a probe it could go longer between watering, so that could be a thing. I rarely leave the plants for more than a couple of days tho. But it's good to know they exist, might come in handy some day!
