You sir are wrong. The sand COMPLETELY eliminates them. I speak from 100% firsthand experience. My growroom no longer has gnats with only sand added to the top layer of soil.

gnats like soil and dont bother the plants

i have a bad gnat problem right now.currently using the beer and sand technique .hope it works. although, this is the best method of killing them i think.works everytime

I used the yellow sticky paper and it worked GREAT!

ok where can you go to get a ba of sand? and these traps

wouldnt sand have too much salt going into the soil when watered?

so when you said you had spilt beer in the top of the bucket thats all it took to wipe em out? these little bastards are annoying the fuck out of me.

ive smashed about 15 of these little fuckers and ive finally had enough, they wont be living past today.
im guessing they came in the soil i bought. and ive just cloned so i need them gone asap

get some coke bottle tops, fill em with beer and place them arround places of interest for the little shits, like the drip tray, do the sand method or what ever (i only used the beer traps) they will keep the numbers down not wipe em out totally, get some sticky tape and wrap it arround your pots (with the sticky side outwards) that always amused me

Went to menards. Found some sand.
Haha the menards by me is fucking huge with two floors two elevators and a huge escalater.
it nearly took me forever to find this shit. but i did.
i also checked out some wood and found some great deals. Mini-ramp here i come!

But anyway, i added the sand to the plants and it was pretty fun i must admit seeing the little bastards go nuts!
while i was putting some duct tape around the pots i saw one land on it and try gettin off haha
i guess its a lil bad how that amuses me but these things were hurting my babies :]

after only about 30 mins after putting the sand on i didnt really see any movement around the puts.
give it a couple days and they should be gone
